Aye, I've heard this, that smoke was actually disguising the fact that pubs stink. Quite a lot of pubs have been refurbished up here once the smoking ban came into place, but I think that was also so they could add a beer garden in. I've had the ultimatum and am going to have to quit the disgusting habit once and for all, but having tried before I have not much confidence I'll be successful.
