Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
the glasses wearer Went to get my eyes tested today in preparation for starting my driving lessons properly. Found out I have a stigmatism in both eyes and am now the "proud " owner of 197 quids worth of eyewear.......my God everything looks really strange on here now Good for you Radgi. Astigmatism is nothing unusual and glasses are quite fasionable these days. You could always get contact lenses as an alternative. Do you need them all the time or just for certain tasks? Thanks Apparently I only need them for driving and whilst using a computer ( which is about 75% of the time what with work and then here) but I have to wear them all the time for three days sothat my eyes "adjust" to them. Perfectly normal, just got to let your eyes and your brain get on the same page again. You'll adjust to them in a day or two.
Guest Patrokles
I have astigmatism too. Alternate between glasses and contacts depending. Contacts aren't great for astigmatism people because your corneas are flatter which means that the contacts, curved as they are, inevitably dig in somewhat. Not useful for extended wear. Do you wear torics? Yeah. I think the main problem is how quickly they dry out, to be honest. But I do get pinching sometimes.
catmag 337
Don't take any notice, Radgina. I've not long bought 2 pairs of new geps and they're the first ones I've had in ages that I actually like. Used to get the piss taken out of me something rotten at school cos I looked like Velma out of Scooby-Doo My new ones make me look stern but sophisticated in a Supernanny kinda way Edited January 24, 2007 by catmag

If you sit in front of a screen all day your blink rate tends to slow and they can start to dry out (Air conditioned offices make it even worse). The pinching could be that the base curve isn't right.
Magma 0
I used to wear glasses, but I've stopped and I should be wearing them cause I can't see reading from long distances. Might get an eye test since I'm gonna be learning how 2 drive in 2 months time. Edited January 24, 2007 by Magma

Not that theres anything wrong with them, I wore them for most of my life, but I've always imagined Midds to look like some really large, well built if you will, shaven headed dude for some reason. Wierd I know. Edited January 24, 2007 by Tecato

Gemmill 47106
I'm a speccy like. Used to wear contacts all the time but then couldn't get away with them at work anymore. Staring intently at the internet was drying my eyes. Haven't had any lenses for a while but am gonna get some dailies soon and see how I go with them. Wear my glasses at the match these days, but not in the pub, which is why I can be seen squinting like a mong when I first come in to work out where people are.
