The 24-year-old is reported to be in talks with Chelsea but United continue to be linked with a player who has already turned down a move to Fulham this month. curry stained pilchard 0
Skysports... Glenn Roeder has confirmed Goran Gavrancic and Oguchi Onyewu will not be joining Newcastle United. Dynamo Kiev defender Gavrancic had been linked with a move to St James' Park as Roeder looks to add cover to his back-line. But after exploring the possibility of signing the Serbia international, Roeder has opted against making a bid. "I have conducted my own investigations into Gavrancic and decided he is not a player we will be signing," Roeder told the Evening Chronicle. "I have been told by people I respect, and who know what they are talking about, that he is no better than the defenders we already have at St James' Park. "But while Gavrancic is not coming this does not mean we have slackened off in our efforts to bring a couple of players in before the transfer window closes next Wednesday. "The four or five players we have targeted are still with their clubs and I can put my hand on my heart and honestly say that we have not wanted any of the players who have already moved in the transfer window." United States international Onyewu was another centre-half to have been linked with a January move to The Magpies. Roeder, though, confirmed he is not pursuing the Standard Liege stopper, who has been interesting Chelsea and Fulham. He added: "I am aware of this player, but he is not a player I am trying to sign."
