The Martian day 35

Fixed pump with some blue tack. It was no biggie. I am still alive. Today I will make a disco top 20 on my space ipod.

Disappointingly I have yet to see a single flying monkey. Maybe that sort of shit only happens in books that retards read!?

Crowley? Yeah. Pretty well all of it.

Ordered the Necromicon the other day, should arrive today or tomorrow. Coincidence? I think not. ;)

What other things would you recommend in that arena?

Couldn't be.

Haven't read the Necronomicon. From a quick wikipedia search it looks like its along the same lines as The Book of Thoth, Book 4 type thing?

Interesting stuff. Complete nonsense but interesting nonetheless.

Yeah I never got through the 'Keys of Enoch'......Good for stealing ideas from though.

To be honest I would only read it for entertainment. I don't think any of it has any real value.

The Sefer Yetzirah and Meditation & Kabbalah by Aryeh Kaplan were pretty interesting. Ties into the Tarot and the numerology of the Kabbalah. Tree of Life type stuff.

Crowley borrowed pretty heavily from the Kabbalah for his mysticism if I'm remembering it properly.

Then The Tibetian Book of Living & Dying was good. But that's more mainstream Buddhism rather than crackpot heroin-chic Kabbalic ravings.

I could probably remember more if I had a good think and some acid. ;)

Parky, you red-end, there's nowt wrong with the first page of that book. It should be bang up your street, get back to it.

My main problem with it is that there aren't even any rovers on mars never mind us sending people there.

This kind of fiction backs up the fake reality tho innit. Suddenly a shit book gets made into a Hollywood film with an A list star. Mmmm...

Fiction is used to program our ideas and expectations of the future/past.

Consciousness is the key. It's more important than matter itself.

You'll need another 500 yoga sessions before you begin to fathom this.

 You wait til the film comes out and you're going on about how great it is. At that point I will have you in an Internet figure four leg-lock from which you will never escape.

If you can get hold of it, Magick Without Tears is a good Crowley book to start with, The Vision and the Voice is the book I've enjoyed the most of his. You could also check out the works of Pete Carroll for some recent stuff that treads similar waters, although from a much more scientific/mathematical position.

If you're a fan of grimoires then Jake Stratton Kent has put some very good stuff out, and if Kabbalah is an interest then David Chaim Smiths' work is well worth looking at, I've just dug out my old copy of The Kabbalistic Mirror of Genesis to go through again, his artwork is well worth checking out as well.

Did you read those Mark Fisher books you ordered a while ago?

Zero Books have recently released the next 2 volumes to Eugene Thackers Horror of Philosophy series, I've not read 2 and 3 yet but they're on my list (first one is very good).
