LeazesMag 0
This book contains the clip in Toonpacks sig, he was a board member alongside Fred and Doug and "exposed" some hometruths etc etc blah blah. Sounds to me like he wanted to curtail the ambition of the club and run a safe club going nowhere [like the current owner] from what I've heard over the years. Anyway, I'll read this book [from the library] and give an honest appraisal of it. There are always 2 sides to everything but I'll take on board whatever he says and report back how I see it when I've finished. Who says I'm not open to other "opinions" Thing is, I was wet behind the ears once too like some people on here, but eventually realised the truth about the regime in the 70's and 80's until the club was taken over by football men, despite their faults, nobody is perfect [how many times do I have to say this]

Kevin S. Assilleekunt 1
Excerpt--The Bomb That Kept Exploding I caught him right in the neck, the hollow-tip bullet from my SA-180 standard army issue rifle blew his turban right off and left his head hanging onto his body by a few threads of mangled flesh (unbeknownst to me at the time, this evil bastard had visited a Muslamic dentist, who had replaced his teeth with semtex: no wonder he had wanted to battle to the death in a crowded shopping centre). I had almost decapitated him with the bullets from my SA-180 standard army issue rifle; I decided to finish the job with my leather boots. I ran up to his body as it staggered around, the blood spurting from his neck in great jets like a water fountain display at Center Parks, and I booted his head clean off. It landed in the creche area of Mothercare and killed 18 innocent women and children. But that was the least of my worries. As his now decapitated body lay on the floor, still twitching like a pregnant sparrow in labour, I noticed the nuclear bomb attached to his chest. That was an excerpt from the prologue of The Bomb that Kept Exploding by Stephen Leather. Edited February 7, 2012 by Kevin S. Assilleekunt

donaldstott 0
I am reading back to back autobiographies of two men equally deluded of their own self importance, popularity and talent. Who's the b*stard in the black - Jeff Winter I, Pardridge - Alan Partridge I'm sure you've seen it before, but let me remind you of this little Winter nugget on his last visit to Anfield: "In the end I played a little bit extra, waiting until play was at the Kop end, before sounding the final shrill blast - a bit like the Last Post. The fans behind the goal burst into spontaneous applause. It was longer and louder than normal, even for a big home win. Did they know it was my final visit? Was the applause for me? They are such knowledgeable football people, that it would not surprise me.” Knob.
Guest alex
He subsequently tried to claim that was tongue-in-cheek after all the stick he got for it. I'm guessing it's not jam-packed with self-deprecating comic gems though. Edited February 7, 2012 by alex
donaldstott 0
It was the autobiography that you'd expect any smoggy to write. Full of bravado, cock-sureness without a hint of irony.
Ayatollah Hermione 14078
Just finished Tina Fey's (30 Rock creator) memoir thing. Just a comedy book really, canny funny but wears a bit thin by the end but finished it in a day basically so not a waste. Started 1Q84 but it's not really grabbing me yet. Looking to get into George Saunders next as I've heard he's similar to Vonnegut. Anyone read any?
