Materialism: The "What have you bought?" Thread

Reminds me of a class conversation we had at work the other week. One of the lads bought some chickens a few weeks back so they could farm their own eggs. Anyway I asked him how many he'd got and he replied "three hens".

Cue the massive back-fire of all when the bloke in the next bay thought he was being a clever shit and prompty exclaimed "hope you're not expecting any eggs out of the hens if you didn't bother to get a cock too!"

Trouble is, it didn't matter how many times we explained it, he still didn't get it!

They have a load of Sennheiser stuff going, I have the new Muse album on at the moment and it's like Jesus Christ himself humming in my ear but at the same time blocking all the excess noise.

Guess it depends on how much use you get out of them. The way I look at it, I'm happy to spend £100 on earphones because I get 2 years out of them and I use them every single day. That's just 14p a day.

Ipods sound canny good. The difference between a £20 and £70 pair can be huge, especially with proper sound isolation that seals your ear. Someone said earlier it sounds like Jesus is speaking to you and I know what he means. I remember the moment I got my first pair of Etymotics, I sat on the bus with my mouth open like a mong because it was like Sabbath were playing in my head and I could pick out every instrument across the stage.

MP3s are never going to be perfect, but it's like the difference between a good stereo and a clock radio. I know people that even have portable amps to drive the sound from their ipod to their earphones.

ipods are goodish sounding but only with virtually lossless or high bitrate recordings, there are far better sounding mp3 and mp4 players on the market. I agree with HF's theory that if you use phones daily you should get the best you can afford. I have 3 pairs all for different purposes, some very nice Akg ones for audio work. sennheisers for dj'ing, and other sennheisers for ipod related stuff...

those phones for 15 quid are not bad btw.

Keeping it, soz.

You and your lass going out on "rides" like?

Aye if you babysit.

Going to do that coast to coast next year.

What so u need 2 bikes to do that like? Is your lass gonna drive behind u like a la the tour de france for a quick changeover in case u get a puncture like?

Wife at work does it every year for charity, comes in on a Monday afterwards walking like a raped John Wayne mind.
