Ugly Mackems 134
Ideas fellas? I've just made a big pan of veg soup. Trouble is the split peas are crunchy and not breaking down at all. Been on the hob 3 hrs now and still crunchy. Can see this going straight down the netty. I've soaked them for a good 24 hrs, in fact nearer 36 hrs but the little yellow bastards are having none of it!

Meenzer 15716
Stick it in the blender, even if the bits are still crunchy at least they'll be smaller bits...

Meenzer 15716
The local market's been swimming in butternut squash recently so I've been using that a lot. Roast some cubes of it with a couple of sliced red onions and some garlic, stir it through pasta with some creme fraiche or similar - easy as you like and dead nice. (Note to Ugly Mackems - cook the pasta first. )

Meenzer 15716
Is this some bizarre dairy product-based extension of the handkerchief code of which I'm unaware or something?
ChezGiven 0
Is this some bizarre dairy product-based extension of the handkerchief code of which I'm unaware or something? Its quite possible that Parky had the image of your creamy sauce inside a hoop of penne and just got over-excited.

Ayatollah Hermione 14043
Reading through this thread, I noticed Leazes apparently makes some top notch curries and since I'm fancying making one, does anyone have the recipes handy? A mild one would be lovely.

A mild one would be lovely. Scroll back to page 18 where I've wrote out a very good curry recipe. You can make it as mild or as hot as you choose to make it. I personally don't bother with the spinach but hoy extra chillies in. Im geet hard though.

Nice one, cheers I'm a bit of a pansy when it comes to hot food (well, me arse is, to be precise) so I'll keep it mild. I've started to like spinach a bit more recently so I'll take the coward's way out.
