You ever make the Ruby Chicken from the same book?

Best curry I've ever had at home, and better than loads I've had at curry houses.

i've stopped ordering takeaway curry since i mastered making my own at home. tastes just as good and i never get that awful bloated feeling you get after eating a lot of delivery stuff.

Has anyone ever had a bash making these fried potato stack things? We’re having about 15 family over o n Boxing Day for a big all day boozy feast. I was thinking about doing these after seeing them on social media and drooling at how good they look. I got all the ingredients but as the day gets closer I’m starting to have second thoughts. Pissing about with deep frying while a few cocktails deep might not be the best idea where dauphinois are a good easy alternative. Has anyone ever bothered? And if so, is it worth the effort?

That’s sort of where I’m at too but they look absolutely banging so I might still give it a go.

That’s something you have a bash at for your own amusement one lazy weekend, not for a pissed up dinner party.

Boozy feast = buffet food imo. You can still have a really nice buffet but for 15+ people with those you’re going to spend half the time deep fat frying. Which is definitely unwise when you’re half cut imo.

Probably sound advice. I’ve done most of the prep already: three pies already made and in the fridge ready to be warmed in the oven:

1 Gruyère, onion and time tart

2 Meera Sodah’s Potato, onion and saffron pie

3 Yotem’s cheese and herb filo pie

Plus I’ve made Nigela’s cheesy Christmas dips and nuts 😳

Got a massive cheese board.

And a winter slaw and a big salad, so we can kid ourselves we’re not being gluttons.

The only things remaining to make on the day are the dauphinois (piss easy) and these potato stack things, if I’m feeling brave/sober enough.
