What exactly are people basing their opinions on him on?

Is it 6 1/2 years of doing nothing or one game against a terrible Liverpool side? Even Ameobi is a far more accomplished player.

Exactly, before that game I doubt anyone would even consider taking him. Because of that game and the chronicle claiming Wenger wouldn't sell he is now a superstar ;)

I don't really want him girls. But I suspect what we can get atm isn't that much. I also suspect if we had the money we would have bought a CD or LB as soon as the window opened.

He's crap, so he'll obviously sign.

He's better than Sib and Shola.

Thinking about it why don't we try for Baptista?

Considering what he has done or rather hasnt done in his career thats not really fair on the other 2. He isn't much younger than Shola!

It's just like when Sib came everyone said he was shit. I'll go with Wengers judgement.

Shola is far better. I wish people would stop thinking he's a pile of rubbish, because his goal return since Roeder took over has been very good. I think at least Roeder has helped him improve.

I wont claim Shola is anything better than a 4th choice striker but he was often played with someone who didn't suit him (Shearer) and when he has played as the main target he has normally looked a better player for it.

Aliadiere: cheap and no risk.

NUFC transferbudget: limited.

Funny how you don't want to loan a upcoming 23 yr old striker from Arsenal, but yet insist we shold bring Fat Ronnie (wage: around £900.000 p/w) to the club... Hmm, im sure Fred agrees!

Wengers judgement seems to be to only play him in the games he puts the youths out in ;)

Well tbh he isn't going to drop Henry and Van Persie is he? Two of the best players if not THE best from their respective nations.

Because one is a player proven to score a goal in less than every two games where the other struggled at Celtic, Wolves and West Ham!

Is 23 still up and coming by the way!

Yup, all of that is correct. Of course he's only a fourth choice striker, but he gets less credit than he deserves. If this was the end of last season, people would be far more positive about him, but as the new season begins they forget about recent good fork and decide he's crap again. He's not had the chance to prove his critics wrong this season due to injury.

He has played around 25 league games for Arsenal since the 01-02 season, he played 7 for West Ham and apparently none for Celtic. Doesn't seem like many want to give him a chance, im sure Arsenals first choice 2 havent played every single game since 2001.

Conveniently forgetting Reyes, Bergkamp, Adebayor.

Still not getting into the team and is not likely ever to in reality.

Hardly a crime Arsenal being a top 8 Euro side and often only playing one striker who just happens to be the best in the world.

As said before, would rather give one of our youngsters a go. When played Aliadiere hasnt looked anything better than average (apart from that one game) we would get more benefit out of playing our own youth players imo.

Tbph, I would rather sign a fit player that played a blinder last wednesday, than a unfit player who peaked 5 years ago and hasn't show anything the last 2 years. On top of that, he's injury prone.

What about Jon Dahl Tomasson? He has always stated that he would love to come back to SJP. Would be a decent signing imo.

It's very clear that glenda has absolutely no idea or any plan for this transfer window. What's even worse is that he was joke in the summer and so you'd expect him to identify targets since then and this has not happened. Total knee jerk reaction to the arsenal perfmormance the other night.

Glenda needs to go.

Agree strongly. We are only treading water with him in charge.

Said player has shown a lot more than Aliadiere in the last 2 years tbqph! One good game is better than a shed load of goals these days?
