Scottish Mag 3
Newcastle United will hand Antoine Sibierski another 12-month contract when his current deal expires at the end of the season. That's the good news for the French midfielder-cum-striker as he prepares to fly to London tomorrow for Sunday's game with Spurs at White Hart Lane. And while United supporters are waiting anxiously to find out which players may be coming through the door in the transfer window, it is a move which will be welcomed by the Toon Army. United boss Glenn Roeder has been delighted with the player signed from Manchester City on the last day of the close season transfer deadline. Roeder told me today: "In my opinion Antoine has turned out to be one of the best free transfers of the season. "I will be speaking to the chairman about giving him another season, and we know we also have to discuss the contracts of Titus Bramble, Nobby Solano and Craig Moore. "But none of this will happen until after this month's transfer deadline because we are putting so much of our efforts and energy in trying to bring some new players into the club. "Everyone knows we could do with some new players. But they have to be the right players. "I know that I could sign a bad player every day between now and the end of the transfer window - but I won't do that." Roeder is waiting for phone calls which will determine whether he is going to get in a couple of defenders, but whatever happens it will be too late for any new signing to be involved in Sunday's game. United's first transfer activity could be outgoing, after the Chronicle revealed on Monday that PSV Eindhoven want Albert Luque. But Ronald Koeman's surprise interest in the 28-year-old striker, albeit on an 18-month loan, will have alerted Spanish clubs about Luque's situation. Meanwhile, after being wrongly linked with David Beckham in many quarters in the past couple of days, United know it is inevitable that there will be talk over the weekend of them bringing Ronaldo to St James' now that Real Madrid are ready to release him. But why would United want to sign an overweight striker who is now past his best and who can hardly run and for whom it would not mean a thing to pull on the black-and-white shirt? I don't think it matters to the majority of the squad tbh. That's not a bad thing btw
@yourservice 67
"I know that I could sign a bad player every day between now and the end of the transfer window - but I won't do that." So buy a good player then! what an excuse this is,if your any good in the transfer market then you would brush the bad players aside and go for the good players, just another stalling statement from king rat
MattM4 0
Great news, good for Le Sib. This news is almost like signing a new player!
Bottled Dog 0
"...we know we also have to discuss the contracts of Titus Bramble, Nobby Solano and Craig Moore." Maybe the Nobster, but Glenn do you really have to discuss new deals for the other two?

Isegrim 9680
I'd take Ronaldo on loan until the end of the season actually.
sammynb 3342
craig moore said he was off to Oz surely? The comment was actually "when his contract runs out." Not when "this contract" runs out.
sniffer 0
I think Moore also said he didn't want a new contract at Newcastle. Which is a good thing for us as you don't want a player who is not focused on the job. Of course, that goes for a lot of the shite that needs to be cleared out. I don't mind sibierski getting a new deal for a year but if he is anything other than a last 10 minutes player next season then we won't be challenging for a top six position. He's as mobile as the other donkey ameobi.

Not when "this contract" runs out. I swear he said he was staying for one year then fucking off to Oz, no matter if he was offered or not
