Happy Face 29 Posted January 8, 2007 Share Posted January 8, 2007 (edited) Tigger was suspended from his post at Walt Disney World yesterday after allegedly punching a 14-year-old fan while posing for a photograph. Winnie-the-Pooh’s stripy sidekick stands acccused of landing a left hook to the head of Jerry Monaco, an American tourist. “He hit me pretty hard. I could feel it even though he was wearing padded gloves,” said the teenager, adding that there was “no provoking at all”. The incident happened at Disney-MGM Studios, one of the four theme parks that make up Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Michael J. Fedelem, 31, one of several Disney staff who play the costumed character, has been suspended pending an investigation. “Physical altercations between cast members and guests are not tolerated,” said a Disney spokesman. A video shot by the boy’s father shows Tigger posing cheerfully with the teenager. The boy has his left arm across Tigger’s back when the bouncy beast suddenly jabs him in the face with his orange paw. The boy then slaps Tigger back. It is the second time a man playing the character has had a brush with the law. In August 2004 Michael Chartrand, 36, a Briton who played Tigger at Walt Disney World, was accused of fondling a 13-year-old girl’s breast while posing with her for a photograph. He was found not guilty. Mr Monaco, of Greenville, New Hampshire, said of the latest incident: “Everyone came up to apologise. Christ.... it looks like he (Tigger ) lost his balance or something and tried to stop himself going over the fence or the young kids. I've no idea how that could be called a "punch".... This character in the middle.. ..clipped me accross the face. He had a plastic hand aswell! You don't see me sticking a fucking claim in though do you!? Soft bugga!
