FFS, they'd better be throwing a couple of million our way to make this happen.

TBH I don't know that anywhere that he'd be willing to go would actually pay anything for him at the moment.

Loan might be the only real option as sickening as it is.

I wouldn't be surprised if (were he to go) we still pay part of his wages.

That's something I've been saying for ages. The horrendous wages being paid at Newcastle for underperforming players is ridiculous and worrying as there is hardly any chance to get rid of them as long as they are sitting on those contracts. That's why I hope that the story about Emre getting a new improved contract (when he is already on a long term one) is just totally bollocks.

If Newcastle doesn't stop doing that kind of business there could well be looming a Leeds-scenario tbh.

Do you blame them for nobody wanting to sign him or that they backed the manager with cash to sign him in the first place?

One good appointment doesn't make a bad chairman.

Take your anyone but Freddy bandwagon elsewhere you knacker. I've been supporting Newcastle for 42 years so I know more than you, had you been around pre-sky you'd know what shit boards were.

Skysports.com can confirm PSV Eindhoven have made a move for Newcastle striker Albert Luque.

The Dutch champions have made an enquiry to sign Luque on loan for the second half of the season.

PSV coach Ronald Koeman is believed to be a big fan of Luque and is keen to bring him to the Philips Stadion.

Luque has been linked with a move away from Newcastle for some time as he is well down the pecking order at St James' Park.

The Spaniard has been frozen out of things on Tyneside despite their crippling injury list and Luque is believed to be keen to move on in a bid to get his career back on track.

Luque's English representative Francis Martin confirmed PSV were chasing the former Deportivo La Coruna man and that the player was just waiting to see if Newcastle would let him go out on loan.

"There has been an enquiry from PSV about taking Albert on loan," Martin told skysports.com.

"His father is over here trying to sort something out.

"Albert would consider a loan move as all he wants to do is play and he could get that opportunity at PSV.

"However, it all depends on Newcastle and whether or not they would be willing to loan Albert out and we are waiting to hear back from them.

"If Newcastle agree to loan we will look at it."

We might even try and get cover in before we let him go...

Yet at the time when Shepherd gave Souness money to go on his mad spending spree you were "mindlessly optimistic" and thought he had put a team together good enough to win the league...

Perhaps Leazes has a point when he talks about peoples 'damned if he does, damned if he doesn't' mentality towards Shepherd...

 I think most people were pleased with his signings at the time, myself included.

Gemmill's comment literally made me laugh out load when I read it...

"We don't lack width on the left. We've got Luque."

;)

In all honesty if Owen had stayed fit and Luque had stayed fit and showed any interest at all.... well I dunno about the title, but I wouldn't have said top 6 would't have been too blindly optimistic.

Of course a better than top 6 finish got Robson the sack.
