Saddam hanged

I had a very strange dream about being hanged last night.

I was tried for a crime I didn't commit, was badly defended by Toadie out of neighbours (who was coerced into using my defense as an advert for Coca Cola), and sentanced to death. I was then hung (didn't feel a thing), but was still to all intents and purposes alive. I was just about to go through all the beauracracy of registering my death when Guy Pearce's disembodied head got me pardoned.

Must have been that pizza I ate for my tea.

Text book effects of eating cheese before bed.

You would think, but I ate the pizza at least four hours before I went to bed. Maybe it was the guacamole, salsa and sour cream dips I finished off for supper.

I was always a bit sceptical that hanging people was a quick way of killing them (if its done properly) but I guess they could hardly have done better with a bullet

Agreed I half expected him to wrigle about as others have said but the sheer force of the drop would have snapped his neck thus resulting in instant death.

He shall not be missed, although I think he will be made a martyr by some of the fanatics

It snaps your neck and you die instantly. Its not meant to suffocate you to death

Sometimes it does, sometimes people live for minutes.

Depends on the length of the rope I think. Sure I read something like that a while ago.

It'd be the drop to a certain degree certainly, but the position of the noose relative to the vertebrae as well, getting the right position on the right part of the neck makes it more likely to snap the spine (I don’t think it snaps so much as is laterally sheared and the vertebrae move out of place then the main cord/nerves are severed by the vertical force).

Clearly they had someone fairly well practiced with hanging do it (not a big surprise in Iraq perhaps).
