At least Barton is willing to have a go at goal which is more than can be said for our current crop of CM's

Emre, Reading, Anyone?

Aye, he's been fucking banging them in since we signed him <_<

Dont get me wrong. He's not scored many, but Wacky implied that our CM's never really try and go for goal. Which would be incorrect

Very good player, last thing we need unless Emre does move though. Will score goals though which would take some pressure off Martins.

02-03 Manchester City 1 Goals, 7 Games (-)

03-04 Manchester City 1 Goals, 28 Games 5 Games (UEFA Cup)

04-05 Manchester City 1 Goals, 30 Games (-)

05-06 Manchester City 6 Goals, 31 Games (-)

06-07 Manchester City 5 Goals, 20 Games

14 goals in 121 games which averges a goal nearly every 9 games, also don't forget that Barton took over as Man City's penalty taker from Anelka when he went to Fenerbache in January 2005.

What does Emre average? Or Parker? Or Butt?

Barton is better than all three.

Emre averages 1 in 12 and Parker 1 in 13, neither of them have been a regular Penalty taker at any previous club, I didn't include Butt as he's a holding man.

I'd have Barton over Parker but I'd rather keep Emre over him, I've said all along put him next to a proper holding man and he'll excel and when partnered with Butt he was excellent, shame he's going to have to be sacrificed to try and accommodate Parker.

I think the lad's a class act and, were Emre to leave, I'd be happy to see him arrive. Unless Emre does leave though, we need to look at other areas first imo although I'm not a fan of spending in January in general.

can he play at left back? last time i checked we were pretty well stocked on centre midfielders

usual drivel and lack of foresight from you

assmuming emre doesn't go, it would be madness to blow the majority of our transfer budget on another midfielder when we're crying out for defenders and forwards. even a mind as small as yours should know that

Given Roeder's assertion re. the character of a player, I can't see him signing someone who stubs cigars out in eyes, really.

Is this the same Roeder who said he only would sign players from the Premiership instead of gambling the club's money on players from abroad? The same Roeder who said that Campbell was to old, but went for Sibierski?

If given the chance I think Roeder would sign Barton quicker than Fat Fred could say "hmm, pies".

Without wanting to rehash the Campbell/Sibierski thing, has it perhaps occured that Sib was signed primarily as back-up (despite what has actually happened), and that Campbell would have been considered a first-teamer?

Regardless, the character issue is something Roeder has been pretty consistent about.

Even banged on about checking Sibierski's character an hour before he signed!

I don't think that proves anything. Every manager will try to gather informations about players before he signs them. We only wouldn't have signed Sibierski if someone had told Roeder that he only turns up for training every other day or is a close pal to Saddam Hussein.

IMHO Roeder changes his opinion far too often that I would bank on his consistency in this case.
