Scottish Mag 3
Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder has likened Kieron Dyer's comeback from injury to the arrival of a new player at St James' Park. The England international has scored three goals in five starts after overcoming a lengthy string of injuries, and looks to be going some way to recapturing the kind of form that made him one of England's finest midfielders. Dyer has already stated he will go 'all guns blazing' should he come through the Christmas period unscathed, and Roeder says the star, who turns 28 on Friday, has been as effective as a new signing on Tyneside. "Kieron has played a few games now and it is a completely different Kieron Dyer to the one we have seen over the last 18 months in terms of his ability to accelerate without having any fear of breaking down," said Roeder. "You can see that has given him a big confidence. It is no coincidence he has scored three goals in this period. "The three he has scored have been excellent strikes. You can just see the Kieron Dyer of old, the Kieron Dyer who first signed for the club. "He is running totally pain-free with no worries or doubts at the back of his mind that he is going to break down. "In many respects, it has been like signing a new player." Dyer has played down speculation that his return to fitness could result in an immediate return to the international arena under Steve McClaren. "I find all the international talk a bit embarrassing because I have still not played 10 straight games for Newcastle," said Dyer. "It is ridiculous to be thinking about England at the moment." TheInspiration 1
He's had a very good comeback imo, and it's undisputable the ability he has. Just wondering how many games we'll see from him from now until the season ends.
