Smooth Operator 10
Just been onto Barclays about some unfair bank charges, they offered me 200 quid as a goodwill gesture so I threatened to take it to the Finacial ombudsman if they didn't give me the full500 snots they owed me. So a cheque's in the post for the full 500! Now then...laptop/season ticket/laptop/season ticket/laptop/season ticket? Fuck it, New Years eve in For Your Eyes Only! Smooth Operator 10
I've tactically told her nowt about it! The bastards had been charging me 7.60 a month since 2001 from an unused account for some insurance policy they say I took out, thing is I remember the phone call where I agreed to have 60 days free then go onto 7.60 a month and I've simply negleted to cancel it and forgotten all about it, but I've chanced my arm and told them I never authorised it and would be taking my business elsewhere in disgust and they wilted! Smooth Operator 10
I got £1500 off the bank when I got my unfair charges back. Cheque cleared today, into my own personal bank account! What kind of unfair bank charges exactly? Do late payment charges on your credit card count as unfair? If so I'll be in the money yet again! They were but they all seem to have been forced to reduce them now. Haven't heard anything about people trying to claim them back the same way you can with bank charges, if you try they''ll probably just tell you to fuck off. If they tell me to fuck off as you put it I'll be sueing them for use of foul and abusive language to a much valued customer! What about charges for going overdrawn on your current account then? ewerk 31592
Is that not what you've claimed back? Aye you can claim them (or part of them) back. I think the jist of the law is that if you've been charged more than it cost the bank/credit card company to perform the action in question then you can claim the money back. So if they charge 35 quid for returning a direct debit and it actually only cost them a fiver you can get that back so I'd assume the same goes for being overdrawn, I got a couple of charges back for been overdrawn a few months ago. No what I claimed back was a monthly payment of £7.60 over 5 years they said they authorised over the phone for some insurance policy, which they did but I knew they couldn't prove it! I forgot to cancel it after the 60 day free period but I thought I'd chance my arm!!
ewerk 31592
Aye then you can claim back any charge deemed to be unfair though it mightn't be easy. Some banks will refund your money but others will fight it, hoping you won't go as far as to take it to court and if you're with Alliance and Leicester they'll close your account if you threaten any sort of action.
