JawD 99
The trouble with the major parties (amongst other things) is that they often avoid debates like this and leave it to tossers like the BNP and UKIP. Well thats true, they do avoid debate on "tricky" subjects. IMO through fear of reproach. But, for many of the normal day to day people, they are avoiding issues that matter. Ok I started the thread on immigration only because yesterday I was read a very touching story about the death of the WPC, then today I start reading about the woman who was killed at the kids christening. But, on UKIP, I find very interesting their views on health & welfare, education and europe. Reading their brief agenda - SAY NO to European Union. But we also say NO to the culture of paperwork, performance targets and spin, NO to uncontrolled immigration, NO to a society in which everything is regulated and dissent is suppressed by fear and political correctness. Only outside the EU will it be possible to begin rebuilding a Britain which is run for British people, not for career politicians and bureaucrats. I've usually taken the stance "all as bad as each other" and generally felt that labour over tory wasnt going to make that much of a difference. Same could well be said about these. Im not big on the ins and outs of politics. But some things do make you take notice. Things in the news, or in my case my wife works for the NHS so I get things from her side as well. Her friend is a teacher so I get thats side of things. There is no all fantasic party and all have a priority agenda. They would be disastrous for the NHS and leaving the EU would be catastrophic for our economy. Besides which, I happen to like living and travelling in Europe and the benefit that all our reciprocal agreements bring. But its to near christmas for politics, we'll agree to disagree. Dunno, I quite like some of their ideas on the NHS. But aye, Xmas and all
Isegrim 10056
Sick of reading threads about immigration tbh. Seriously though, it's obviously a problem, but don't get hysterical about it. The cases you cite are rare and why aren't you starting a thread about British, white, scumbags who commit equally vile crimes? As for the veil, I think it should be illegal in all public places, let alone in airports. If you vote BNP or UKIP you'd go down in my estimation tbh, but I'm sure you're not going to be bothered by that. If you think its rare then your need to go know the veil is meant to be over your mouth and nose, not your eyes. Go read the news. You'll also note that I started the thread saying "We already have enough nutters of our own without letting more in". Just dont start on the whole "why not mention British blah blah" shite. Why? because thats not what Im talking about! Of course there are other problems, plenty of them, but when you read story after story about how devistated peoples lives have become due to human rights bollocks and "do gooders". As for the veil, I dont think it should be illegal in public places. I dont really have a problem with it. Any places where security is an issue though (Airports, banks etc) and of course schools then yes they need their own policy. Oh, and BNP and UKIP are totally different, but thats another topic. UKIP are still a bunch of right-wing, xenophobic, sexist, middle-aged, middle-England tossers imo. I despise that party. There was a brilliant documentary about them here on TV ahead of the last European election. They travelled around with one UKIP candidate during his campaign. He was always ranting how terrible the EU is and how it drags the UK downhill. Then they visited a small factory. The candidate was raving about it being able to compete on the European market and how this is what British should be proud of and that the EU has never done anything for the UK. Until the owner of the factory got a chance to speak and said. "Err sorry Mr. Candidate, but we actually couldn't survive without getting subsidised via the EU regional fund." The reaction of the candidate was very pythonesque. It wasn't Robert Kilroy-Silk by any chance was it? I saw that programme if so. He came across as an ill-informed buffoon. Nah, wasn't Kilroy-Silk. It was a Jorman TV-team following around with some minor candidate. And he was rather mortaly-ill-informed...

I know some people who were on the very Thatcherite wing of th eTory party they got involved with UKIP but got out very quickly - they said there were some very unpleasant peoeple running it - possibly National Front types
JawD 99
Well, if they showed any hint of that Id forget them like a shot. At the moment, they seem like they would get my vote over the other options. Then again, Im sure if we all knew everything that went on with every party no one would get voted for. Dictatorship ftw! Guest alex
I saw a woman in M&S wearing the veil on Sunday out of the corner of my eye. I nearly papped me pants until I realised it was just a Muslim lady. Don't think I'd like to see it banned in public places though. Schools, Courts and other public buildings is a different matter though. How do you know it was a lady? Serious question. Body shape and she was with a man and she was pushing a push chair so I'm guessing they were a married couple. That's a far more serious answer than that deserved though. Smooth Operator 10
Can't watch an episode of Crimewatxh these days without it being domintaed by "immigrant" crime. What happened to the ordinary, decent whitey crims? To clever to get caught compared to our foreign "brothers"?
