Luque snaps his crayons again

Albert Luque's miserable time at Newcastle shows no sign of taking a turn for the better, after the Spaniard was reportedly involved in another bust-up at the weekend.

Since moving to the North East from Deportivo La Coruna in the summer of 2005 Luque has endured the proverbial nightmare, with Glenn Roeder seemingly having little time for the forward brought to the club by Graeme Souness.

It has been reported that Luque stormed away from St James' Park on Saturday after being informed that he would not even be on the substitutes' bench for the visit of Watford, in a game Newcastle won 2-1.

Roeder declined to elaborate further on the future of his want-away star but it is thought a January exit is being lined up for the Spain international.

"I have no idea whatsoever what his thoughts were," said Roeder. "He was in the squad but he wasn't selected as a sub. There's nothing further to be said."

Whilst Newcastle have improved on the field of late, off it and talk has centred on a reported takeover involving American financiers Polygon and the United Bank of Switzerland.

The Jersey-based Belgravia Group are also keen on securing a takeover of their own but Roeder insists that his main focus remains his players and how they continue to perform in the Premiership.

"It hasn't affected anyone at this football club or affected our ability to win football matches," he added.

"I don't think about it. It is not something myself, my staff or my players should have any say in anyway."
