Shearergol 0
"The medics have never known anything like this anywhere," he said. Except at NUFC for the last 9 consecutive seasons. I can't remember the last season without a massive injury crisis and I can remember at least 4 with basically a whole team out injured for at least one point in the season. The biggest difference THIS season is our complete squad is smaller than it has been for a long time (not so very long ago there were 50 professionals in the books – far too many certainly, but we seem to have gone in the opposite direction now). exactly, it was so obvious to all of us that as soon as get our usual bunch of injuries we'd struggle because of how small the squad is. anyone, with the exception of leazesmag, would suggest there was a lack of foresight or dare i say planning on the chairman's part. i'm sure roeder would have liked to have gone into the new season without one of the smallest squads in the league. find it difficult to stop laughing at you when you think the chairman is the manager. The manager chose to - correctly - invest in - in his opinion - quality forwards. He used his budget to do this. Do you really expect the club to continue spending big money they don't have ? If you advocate buying lots of players for 2 or 3m who are no better than what we have, where exactly would that get us and how many of those have we bought that you have said aren't good enough. As i said, it is getting more difficult to stop laughing at you. Or do you continue to think the board can continue to fund their managers massively - then absurdly continue to STILL label them a shit board ???? Give yourself a shake and ask yourself how many other boards match our spending - although I know you think it isn't relevant like Absolutely amazing. You've avoided this one every single time it's been asked - why do you keep harping on about this budget, when Roeder himself has admitted that he tried to sign Neill, Viduka, Huth and Bridge. So basically, the money obviously was there (which is obviously a sign of a good board eh ), so why wasn't it spent, when everyone can see that we needed defenders? Yes, you can harp on about needing forwards more, but even you have to admit we needed both forwards and defenders, right? Think back to the Huth deal - who is to blame that we attempted to sign him AFTER he'd agreed to sign for Boro? What about the Milner/Viduka deal? Whose fault was that? All in all, either Roeder or the board failed us in the summer, by failing to spend the budget which was clearly there, to bring in the players we clearly needed. We're paying for that now, by languishing so close to the bottom of the table, with an extremely thin squad. The whole "funding the managers massively" isn't really helping us though is it - he's gambling with the financial stability of the club to try and get the status back. Remember, we were the 2nd best club in the country a few years back. Clearly someone is to blame for the fact that we've dropped so dramatically. I couldn't give a shit that we're better now than we were 20 years ago - I prefer comparing us to the other teams in the league this year, rather than the ones in a higher league two decades ago. If the board are not to blame for our decline, who is?

Guest alex
I think Anton Ferdinand is totally overrated and Darren Bent is too similar to what we have.
Dr Gloom 22203
i'd like to see us sign a couple of quality full backs, and a forward. babayaro and carr will do as backup but they're not good enough to be first choice. and for all his effort, i don't think i can handle watching ramage at left back again so a new left back is a must. we're in bad need of a commanding centre half too but that one might have to wait until the summer. ewerk 31238
we're in bad need of a commanding centre half too but that one might have to wait until the summer. How long have we been waiting on a commanding CB? Woodgate was the last and the first we've had in a long time. The effect this sort of player can have on the whole back four cannot be underestimated yet they are few and far between. We do need to take our time and select the right player after the money we wasted on Boumsong but it certainly is a priority and is what I would identify our most urgent need. Yes we need new full backs but the influence of a leader at the back maay even turn Carr and Baba into semi-useless players rather than the giant-turd like oxygen thiefs they currently are. I'm a firm believer that when it comes to centre backs its not just their skill but their effect on the players around them and their ability to lead and command which is something we need desperately (although Moore does it to a certain degree). Baggio 0
Queens Park Rangers are close to admitting defeat in their attempts to keep highly-rated forward Ray Jones. The 18-year-old's contract expires next summer but Rangers' hopes of negotiating an extension have been met with little encouragement by the player. Fulham have already failed with a £50,000 bid, branded 'derisory' by the Loftus Road club, while Liverpool, Newcastle, Wigan and Celtic are also thought to be keen. A move to the Premiership could be in the offing after Rangers chairman Gianni Paladini revealed his team's frustration at the impasse. "We've offered him about eight contracts but every time we have heard from his agent that Ray won't be signing," said Jones. Anyone know anything about him?
