Craig 6670 Posted November 27, 2006 Share Posted November 27, 2006 this works with most Dells Press and hold Control Key+F11 during boot up to go through the restore wizard thing sure, but if this doesn't work I'm doing three things. 1) holding you personally responsible for the bloodbath that will undoubtedly follow and 2) letting Wacky and Smo do whatever they like to the people who own/run Dell and finally 3) buying a Mac with the money I demand from this shite- hawking company. good luck if you do ring Dell, the support centre is in India and their grasp wasn't too great when i last spoke to them You sure they gave you the right number? Whenever I speak to them they're in Ireland (then again that's usually the business support). HP on the other hand are from India and I've lost count the amount of times the cheeky feckers have told me to speak clearly so they can understand me! Cock-heads! I've found NOD32 ( http://www.eset.com/ ) to be the best virus software I've used to you might to give that a go and if your not behind a router install a decent firewall i used Sunbelt Kerio in the past (http://www.sunbelt-software.com/kerio.cfm ) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think the system restore disk option was one I switched off to save £40 or something... balls to it, my mate is bringing his external hd tonight, I'll move my shit across, restore my pc and pray to the great big angry gods that everything will work. then after Xmas I'll buy a mac for browsing and work and I'll strip the pc to the bear bones for games and... well... porn I guess.. Did you try and save £20 by deselecting them or do they not come as standard any more? Dell are great at the start but most of the Dells I've had will throw up problems after a while, still for the price they're not bad value for money. Start, Run... msconfig Then select Diagnostic Startup, reboot then try a System Restore If you plan on rebuilding and you're using Microsoft Outlook then you may want to save your pst and pab files from C:\Documents and Settings\{USERNAME}\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook Other apps might store their configs within the same Application Data folder that you may want to keep, alternatively, look under C:\Documents and Settings\{USERNAME}\Local Settings\Application Data... actually, fuck it, just save the entire contents of C:\Documents and Settings folder somewhere safe just in case! If neither party can understand each other, then how are they supposed to help. It would be the same if I rang up an English call centre and they had some one with a really broad regional accent on.
