TheInspiration 1
As incorrect as it is that he's shit, we looked a whole lot better with Butt and Emre in the centre.

Gemmill 44265
Butt looked a lot better than him. Butt basically operates like a defensive midfielder and is comfortable in that role. Parker looks like he's not quite sure what he is, which leaves Emre in the same quandary. Emre looks a lot happier/better alongside Butt - like he's been let off the leash. Jimbo 172
Parker tries very hard, but thats not enough, he's tried to change his game and become a defensive midfielder, quite simply, he isn't, he's not good enough in that role, he has battling instincts and sometimes people confuse that with skill, its not, he spends far too much time on his backside lurching in for tackles. Parker should forget it and get back to what he was good at, an attacking midfielder scoring goals.

snakehips 0
Talking of Emre 'coming to life' with Butt behind him (no pun intended), have we seen a situation this season where Parker has had Butt playing anchor behind him? Serious question.
menace13 0
What's your point? Makelele has the same role as Parker yet he isn't even in double digits in his whole career.

menace13 0
Lying about you? Not really considering you played me and my rep was 86% after I played you my rep was 85% after the match finished, so it looked like you gave me bad feedback, I apologised since you said it wasn't you but it did look like you did it. That's why I said what I thought. And Parker hasn't been a "goalscoring midfielder" since his Charlton days, even when Chelsea signed him, they signed him as a defensive midfielder not an attacking midfielder. wykikitoon 19862
Sad to see this sort of thread tbh. When Emre was playing alongside Parker his overall game seemed poor. Poor passing, poor positions, poor communication. Butt came on and his game improved a lot.

I personally don't know how the fuck you can call someone who scored 9 goals in 128 games a goalscoring midfielder.
Brock Manson 0
What's your point? Makelele has the same role as Parker yet he isn't even in double digits in his whole career. It's Makelele's natural position, and he's significantly better at it than Parker.
Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
At Charlton wasn't he a box-to-box man, rather than been a specialised defensive or attacking midfielder?
Mark 0
At Charlton wasn't he a box-to-box man, rather than been a specialised defensive or attacking midfielder? Yep. Either way he was only good at Charlton for 6 month, which earned him a transfer to Chelsea. Personally I don't see what he offeres, goes to ground to much, can't pass, shoot, or skin a player. Gets stuck in, but Bowyer did all that...
Bombadil 0
It's funny that public opinion on Parker seems to either come in the form of an OTT wankfest, or in the form of some OTT criticism.
Ted Maul 0
The way Parker plays has a detrimental effect on whoever's beside him. As I was saying to one of the lads at work today i'd much rather have Butt and Emre partnering each other at this current moment in time.
Mark 0
Tbh I always blamed Emre for our midfielders ineffectiveness, and thought Parker would come good. On todays performance it shows that Parker is the reason we aren't effective. Milner, Butt, Emre, Zoggy are currently our most effective midfield IMO.
