Happy Face 29
FRIDAY 10TH AUGUST SCANNERS 12.35am BBC1 I keep meaning to watch more Cronenberg films but I've had a few cans so won't ruin this by doing so tonight. It is meant to be a complete head fuck though SATURDAY 11TH AUGUST AUSTIN POWERS: INTERNATIONAL MAN OF MYSTERY 9.10pm Channel 4 I prefer the second one, but both are funny as fuck. Third one was shite though JACOB'S LADDER 10.30pm ITV4 Post vietnam psychological thriller. I don't rate it as highly as others personally, but it's generally viewed as a bit of a modern classic. The twist might seem tired now, but as far as I'm aware it set the standard that's been copied all over. SUNDAY 12TH AUGUST FROM DUSK TILL DAWN 11pm BBC1 Excellent first hour. Fun second hour. The flashes of carnage after Tarantino's vicious rape have always stuck with me as shocking, but you actually see nothing. Very well done that scene. WAYNE'S WORLD 11.25pm Film4 Classic comedy. Schwing! MONDAY 13TH AUGUST CAPTURING THE FRIEDMANS 10pm More4 Hard hitting documentary that started as a story of party clowns in New York, but in the end follows one clown's story after the dark history of his families past gets unearthed. His father and brother were accused of being paedophiles, and the family who've spent their lives performing on home videos caught the entire fallout on tape. Fascinating and disturbing. PREDATOR 2 10.05pm E4 Arnie's best film? No, that's The Running Man, but this is still very good. TUESDAY 14TH AUGUST RUMBLE FISH 10.50pm Film4 Highly rated Francis Ford Coppola film. His first new film in a decade (Youth without Youth) is out this year, so this is a good reaquaint yourself with his work. THIS SPORTING LIFE 12midnight BBC2 Superior 60's 'kitchen sink' British drama. Richard Harris is a legend. THURSDAY 16TH AUGUST SPIDER-MAN 2 9pm Five US Superb action sequel. The best super hero series going at the moment (I haven't seen 3 though) THE WICKER MAN 10pm ITV4 There's a couple of ignant fools on here who'll tell you it's tedious stuff. But it freaked the shit out of me when I first saw it last year. Excellent I thought. FRIDAY 17TH AUGUST OLD BOY 11pm Film4 *film of the week* If you read my openng post in the 'introduction to oriental cinema' thread, you'll know that this is the one film I recommended above all else if you fancy getting into this stuff. A stunningly designed film.

Lazarus 0
Jacobs Ladder is an excellent film - i wish theyd hurry and release a 2 disc set crammed with extras as i'd buy it in a flash. Almost ahead of its time tbh.
Happy Face 29
Jacobs Ladder is an excellent film - i wish theyd hurry and release a 2 disc set crammed with extras as i'd buy it in a flash. Almost ahead of its time tbh. It's a canny story with a clever twist, I just don't think it's a particularly well made film. I'm definately in a minority there though so wouldn't want to put off anyone wanting to see it (that's why I included it). It's the same bloke that did Flashdance and Indecent Proposal, so it's definately his best film.

I need to watch it again. SOME LIKE IT HOT 4.30pm Film4 Classic comedy that you should watch. Absoloutley hilarious stuff. If you're not, watch it and let me know what you think. THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE 12.35am Film4 Still haven't got round to seeing this I'm not doing very well this week. SUNDAY 19TH AUGUST A COCK AND BULL STORY 9pm BBC2 Excellent attempt at adapting Tristram Shandy whilst realising the impossibility of the task. The Pacino impression is immense. THE BOURNE IDENTITY 10pm ITV2 New one at the pictures. Chance to catch up. Fantastic series. BATTLE ROYALE 11pm Film4 Very violent. Excellent stuff BATTLE ROYALE II: REQUIEM 1.15am Film4 Absoloute horse shit MONDAY 20TH AUGUST JACKASS THE MOVIE 10pm E4 Never required a cinematic release, but damn, it's some hilarious shit. Happy Face 29
SUNDAY 26TH AUGUST BACK TO THE FUTURE 2.25pm ITV2 M4TT owns this film of course, but that's no reason we can't all enjoy it. SYMPATHY FOR LADY VENGEANCE 11.35pm Film4 Follow up to Oldboy, not quite as good, but still jolly good. MONDAY 27TH AUGUST CHINATOWN 11.05pm five Roman Polanski work of genius with Jack Nicholsan. RAISING ARIZONA 12midnight BBC1 The Coen Brothers get into the swing of proper comedy. They perfected it with The Big Lebowski, but this was a cracking start. DUMPLINGS 12.25am Film4 Hong Kong Horror that'll probably be remde within a year. WEDNESDAY 29TH AUGUST RED SONJA 11.15pm BBC3 Class fantasy film that I loved more than any other when I was little. Happy Face 29
SATURDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER INSIDE DEEP THROAT 12.15am Documentary about the film that made porno chic in the 70's. Worth it alone for the owner of a cinema whose wife berates him throughout the interview for even talking about it. SUNDAY 2ND SEPTMEBER BACK TO THE FUTURE PART II 2.35pm ITV2 If you haven't seen this, it's a yawning chasm in your pop culture knowledge and needs to be rectified. THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING 5.45pm Channel 4 If you haven't seen this, it's a yawning chasm in your pop culture knowledge and needs to be rectified. MONDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS 11.05pm ITV1 Bone chilling. WEDNESDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER THE COMMITMENTS 10.40pm Film4 Very funny film, for music fans especially. RUMBLE FISH 12.55am Film4 From the maker of Apocalypse Now and The Godfather. Edited September 1, 2007 by Happy Face

Happy Face 29
SATURDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT 2pm BBC2 Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart get it on for the first time. Absoloute class. RIO BRAVO 2.40pm ITV3 John Wayne, Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson in a marvellous western. SUNDAY 16TH SEPTEMBER THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING 6.30pm Channel 4 We've all seen it. SHAUN OF THE DEAD 10pm ITV2 Hilarious modern classic comedy horror. MONDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER THIS FILM IS NOT YET RATED 10pm BBC4 Dying to see this. Shame I'll be too pissed after the Derby game. BARRY LYNDON 10.35pm ITV3 If you don't have to go to work on Tuesday enjoy this bit of a marsterpiece. PRIZZI'S HONOR 11.05pm ITV1 Really need to see this. TUESDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER SCENES FROM A MARRIAGE 12.45am Film4 Ingmar Bergman is dead, the least you could do is watch this. FRIDAY 21ST SEPTEMBER KEANE 11.25pm Film4 A mentally unstable man whose daughter was abducted tries to come to terms with it. Damian Lewis is superb, even though he is hampered (particularly in the first half hour) by his characters lack of any internal monologue whatsoever. that whole section could have been done in silence, and he had the chops to pull it off, but his constant stream of expository dialogue is distracting to say the least and lets down what is otherwise an excellent film. Like The Woodsman, it might make some people uncomfortable by depicting a child abducter in an almost sympathetic light, but I think the self-doubt and anguish is more real than a pantomime child snatcher. Grim, but well worth a watch, just mute the first third. RICHARD PRYOR LIVE IN CONCERT 1.05am BBC1 Not as funny as Eddie Murphy
