SUNDAY 11TH MARCH

SNATCH 10pm five

Better than Lock, Stock and two smoking barrels.

TRUE LIES 10pm ITV2

Before the Bourne series re-invented Bond, this did. Excellent actioner, even had a (better) crane chase 10 years before Bond copied.

AMELIE 10.40pm Channel 4

Absoloutley gorgeous

DAVE CHAPPELLE’S BLOCK PARTY 11.15pm BBC2

Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine) directs a concert organised by Dave Chappelle where he grew up. Not just a great bit of fun with laughs and excellent performances from the Roots, the Fugees and that, but also a call to the black community to concentrate all their energy on the positive and to make their own choices the right ones. One of my faves from last year.

MONDAY 12TH MARCH

ALIEN 10.45pm Film4

You've all seen it.

HEAVENLY CREATURES 11.35pm BBC1

Some say it's Peter Jackson's best film, I've never seen it but I doubt that.

TUESDAY 13TH MARCH

GHOST DOG: THE WAY OF THE SAMURAI 10.45pm Film4

I didn't like it, but it seems to have developed a bit of a cult following. Forrest Whitaker is an urban samurai who does lots of reading.

THURSDAY 15TH MARCH

GOODFELLAS 10pm Channel 4

"Go get your shine box"

"Mutha Fucka!"

FRIDAY 16TH MARCH

FIGHT CLUB 9pm BBC3

First rule says I can't talk about it.

Stopped reading here. We've discussed this. :baby:

A catch

To steal Scott's gimmick here:

Snatch is better than Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. FACT!

And it has been scientifically proven that anyone that doesn't agree with the above statement is gay.

FACT!

Amelie is fantastic. I was one of those doubters but I made all my assumptions having not seen the movie. Yes the ending has a happy feel-good cheesefest ending, but the way it gets there is just so quirky and funny. Watch it and if you disagree, if you think Amelie is shit then you have no soul.

TRUE LIES 10pm ITV2

Before the Bourne series re-invented Bond, this did. Excellent actioner, even had a (better) crane chase 10 years before Bond copied.

The Bourne identity was made as a film way before True Lies. Richard Chamberlain and the real story too.

How dare you challenge the pool of film information they call 'happy face', expect one of Jonathan Ross's witty replies in response :baby:

SATURDAY 17TH MARCH

WHAT ABOUT BOB? 3.20pm ITV3

When Bill Murray stopped being funny, he was still infinitely funnier than Steve Martin. An enjoyable romp if you're with Virgin and can't watch soccer Saturday.

DONNIE BRASCO 11.40pm Channel 4

I thought it was good at the time but can't really remember a thing from it. It's all confused in my head with Carlito's Way and Blow, which probably means it wasn't that great.

SUNDAY 18TH MARCH

THE PINK PANTHER 6.50pm Film4

I love Claudia Cardinale. Hommuna hommuna, aa-aaaooooooooo!

DOGMA 9pm Film4

Affectionate ribbing of religious Dogma from the bloke that made Clerks, Mallrats and Chasing Amy. No-one'll agree but it's his best film imo.

THE SUGARLAND EXPRESS 1.20am Film4

I love Goldie Hawn. Hommuna hommuna, aa-aaaooooooooo! Spielberg directs. Well worth a watch, but maybe not this late on a school night. Sky plus it if you have the technology.

MONDAY 19TH MARCH

SABOTEUR 12.30pm Channel 4

Hitchcocks WW2 cautionary tale of protecting the American way. Very pertinent to the current climate when innocent individuals are detained beyond a reasonable time. Despite the incredibly wooden performance of Robert Cummings I also enjoyed it as a thriller. The Cinema scene looked lush. I can see why it's not one of his more popular films, but it's still a cut above most.

COLLATERAL 9pm Film4

I enjoyed it, but if you've already seen it you're far better off watching....

APOCALYSPE NOW 10pm ITV4

Which is one fucking brilliant film, though if you've seen it you might want to watch...

THIEF 11.15pm Film4

Years before Collateral, Michael Mann made this. Should be a canny double bill.

TUESDAY 20TH MARCH

INFERNAL AFFAIRS 9pm Film4

If you enjoyed The Departed, here's your chance to compare it with the original, I seem to be a dissenting voice in not being overly enamoured by it and enjoying the remake more, even though I saw the original first.

LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS 10.55pm Film4

Before Snatch (recommended last week) mockney, Madonna marrying tit-end Guy Ritchie made this thoroughly enjoyable crime caper. It must rankle him though, that he's still not made a film as good as Layer Cake (directed by first timer Matthew Vaugh who produced Ritchie's two best films).

WEDNESDAY 21ST MARCH

SEXY BEAST 11pm Film4

"Your Names Rowntree, at the Grosvenor, YES! You Will!"

A pretty average film wrapped around Ghandi's awesomely scary performance as a hard man who's all mouth. His fleeting appearance makes it well worth putting up with Ray Winstone.

THURSDAY 22ND MARCH

LA CONFIDENTIAL 9pm Film4

Good old fashioned period cop film set in Hollywood.

FRIDAY 23RD MARCH

THE RIGHT STUFF 10.10pm ITV3

Superb, brilliant, fantastic, outstanding film about the pioneers of the American Space program and the jet pilots that were bypassed. Easily the best film about space travel made, I love Apollo 13, but this tops it.

CITY OF GOD 11.05pm Film4

If you still haven't seen this you really are behind the times. For those that say they don't like foreign/subtitled films, this will change your mind.

CONFESSIONS OF A DANGEROUS MIND 11.40pm BBC2

Before George Clooney got deservedly nominated for an oscar for directing Good Night and Good Luck he made this top film that seems to have slipped under the radar. Based on the autobiography of the Chuck Barris, he's the tv producer that came up with the concepts for The Dating Game and The Newlywed Game. The book and the film get their edge from his claims of also being a CIA operative.

Donnie Brasco: a superb movie, Depp and Pacino at their best.

Pink Panther: I never fail to be in tears of laughter watching that movie.

Apocalypse Now: Cinematically its beautiful and brilliantly acted, watch out for a young Lawrence Fishburn, but I thought the plot let it down.

Lock Stock: A great little movie, I love it, even though the Mockney factor.

LA Confidential: Absolutley hated it !!

The Right Stuff: brilliantly made, brilliantly acted but dreadfully over long.

SATURDAY 17TH MARCH

THE 300 SPARTANS 1.55pm BBC2

Might as well hoy it on while people might be confused and watch it.

TOY STORY 6.20pm BBC1

Not as good as the sequel, but awesome.

THE USUAL SUSPECTS 9pm Film4

Completely baffling for 90 minutes then neatly tied up. It's fun on the way.

THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION 9.20pm Channel 4

By popular opinion, the second best film ever made.

APOLLO 13 9.55pm ITV2

In my opinion, the second best NASA film ever made.

THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE 11pm Film4

It's meant to be canny nasty.

SUNDAY 25TH MARCH

WHITE MEN CAN’T JUMP 10pm five

I love the venice Beach Boys singing 'Just A Closer Walk With Thee'. And they way Rosie Perez says "The Stookie Brothers"

SHAUN OF THE DEAD 10pm ITV2

Very funny

SCHINDLER’S LIST 10pm ITV3

Very earnest

JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKES BACK 11.15pm BBC2

Very poor

DJANGO 1.50am ITV4

Violent western about a bloke that drags a coffin wherever he goes.

MONDAY 26TH MARCH

TALK RADIO 9pm Five US

Oliver Stone film that was free in last weeks Times but I still haven't watched.

TUESDAY 27TH MARCH

OLIVER TWIST 4.40pm Film4

The Best version, the David Lean one.

AMELIE 10pm More4

On again, no-one dislikes it though, so take a look if you haven't

WEDNESDAY 28TH MARCH

PUSHER 1.10am Film4

As previously recommended as a helluva bargain and enjoyed by others. A drug dealers live descends into chaos.

FRIDAY 30TH MARCH

NATURAL BORN KILLERS 10.50pm Film4

Excellent film that falters dissappointingly at by running out of gas.

THE US VS JOHN LENNON 11.35pm BBC2

Documentary about the FBI/CIA(?) hounding John Lennon. A flimsy concept, but you might get some rare Lennon footage.
