Those nasty white lumps you sometimes get on your tonsils when you've had a cold or sore throat. I've just had an unpleasant taste in my mouth and coughed up one the size of a baked bean. I'm both impressed and disgusted with myself.

Tonsils like a plasterers radio ?

White lumps?

Phlegm?

No, tonsilolliths.

Tonsil Stones (tonsilloliths) are caused by an accumulation of sulfur-producing bacteria and debris that become lodged in the tonsils. This debris (which can include mucous from post nasal drip) putrifies in the back of your throat, and collects in the tonsil crypts (small divots or pockets which appear on the surface of the tonsils).

I was looking at my throat a few years ago and noticed these lumps at the side. They were shiny and round. GOt in a complete panic and went to Dr fearing the worst. She looked at my throat asked me where they were did the whole thing with moving her glasses down her nose and said "yes they are your tonsils". Truly believed I have never blushed so much in my life.
