Scottish Mag 3
Newcastle United have been rocked by yet another injury setback when they were forced to rule left-back Celestine Babayaro out of their plans for the next couple of weeks. And no sooner had Glenn Roeder been informed of this than Babayaro was joined in the treatment room by Olivier Bernard, who has a hip problem. And this latest injury is going to make it all the more difficult for the French left-back to force his way into United's Premiership side before his contract runs out at the end of the season. But Babayaro's injury is the more immediate concern as he is currently the only senior recognised left-back on the club's books. And while Stephen Carr has not yet been ruled out of Saturday's trip to the Emirates Stadium, the Republic of Ireland right-back is struggling to make it because of the toe injury which saw him limp off at Manchester City on Saturday. No wonder Roeder watched anxiously as Craig Moore played for Australia in last night's 1-1 draw with Ghana at Loftus Road. And he is hoping to at least have Titus Bramble return to his defence with the former England Under-21 international having been sidelined with a back injury. The United boss told me today: "We will have to do without Celestine Babayaro for the next two or three weeks after he hurt his groin in extra time at Watford last Tuesday night. "And Olly Bernard has a hip injury, which is different to the one Shola Ameobi has but at the moment we cannot put a time on how long he will be out." Unlike his predecessor Graeme Souness, Roeder has got Babayaro turning in decent enough performances whenever United can get him on to the field. The United boss added: "Babayaro has been one of our most consistent players recently but he just cannot seem to retain his fitness and have a long run in our back four." As far as Bernard is concerned, United admit they have struggled to get him back to the level of fitness required in the Premiership and it is looking increasingly likely that his return to St James' Park is not going to work out for the amiable Frenchman. David Kelly 1328
How fucking difficult can it be to get Bernard fit? He's a young bloke who trains virtually every day of his life. Fucking ridiculous.

Papa Lazaru 0
How fucking difficult can it be to get Bernard fit? He's a young bloke who trains virtually every day of his life. Fucking ridiculous. It defies belief really! I would have problems with our club if they couldn't get some random fat bloke off the streets fit in this length of time. If they can't get a current footballer fit then i despair!
wellsy 0
How fucking difficult can it be to get Bernard fit? He's a young bloke who trains virtually every day of his life. Fucking ridiculous. Probably why he has a hip problem. Just ask Ameobi he trains everyday of his life and plays the games aswell and look at his 60 year old hips. Swinging more then a rusty gate to be honest. Having said that it shouldnt of taken this long to get Bernard fit to start an EPL match. Has Roeder got another enemy in the camp?
Matty 0
Carr and Babayaro have to be 2 of the worst wingbacks in the Premiership and Roeder still thinks they're playing well?! Fuckin' hell Glenn.... shut up please.

Bernard was even taking part in pre season games with Sheffield United so muct have been close to match fitness at the end of the transfer window. snakehips 0
We can laugh about the Bernard situation, but surely somebody at the club inquired as to why no-one else wanted him - not even sunlun ffs! Somebody must have been able to tell them not to go anywhere near him? This is a total and utter shambles. Mickey fuckin mouse. Wonder how much he's on a week?????
