Heard today that Newcastle have made "tentative enquiries" about David Nugent.

Spurs have bid for Steven Taylor, £6.5million. That's all i know at the minute.

I've heard Kuyt is still a major target, nothing on the other two. Roeder is either going to watch him, or sending someone to watch him this weekend. If not impressed or Feyenoord want too much for him then they will go back to Spurs with another bid..................but this time for Robbie Keane.

I've heard nowt to be honest, would only post if i heard something that came with some degree of certainty. Know they haven't gone back in for Defoe since the original bid and it looks like it would take a major increase for them to consider selling him now. Which is a good thing to be honest as i'm not a massive fan of his and can't see us paying much more than they offered initially. Looks like O'Neill will end up at Villa though, which was the second thing i tipped up. Around 9/2 when i heard about it, 1/3 now. Only slight thing of note i've heard is that Carr has been trying to twist Spurs' arm into taking him back. Desperate to get back there.

Definitely isn't Defoe, made bid last week but knocked back and haven't gone back yet.

I'd agree with you all on Defoe, I'd take him but wouldn't be happy paying £12mil for him. Think it's way too much, and would prefer Ashton myself. Think now we've shown our hand with the Duff signing and everyone knows we're desperate for a striker we'll have to pay over the odds. Just passing on what i've heard though.

Newcastle bid £12million for Defoe yesterday. Turned down by Tottenham but they are expected to go back in for him.

Martin O'Neill next Villa boss, not as nailed on as Duff was but fairly convinced. Probably only willing to put my 1992 Barcelona Olympics 400m Hurdles Bronze on this one. And he would taken our job if he was offered it, he wasn't after not being too enthusiastic when he was first sounded out.

This thread reminds me of my 1991 World Championship 4x400m Gold medal, which obviously i have retained. Going into the last leg with no-one believing it could be done and pulling out the big one. Awwwwiiiight.

Apprently Duff has already turned Liverpool down, him and his agent a bit bizarre by all accounts, will be in Newcastle having his medical at some point today. I'm willing to put my 1991 World Championship 4x400m relay Gold medal on Duff being a Mag by early next week.

Duff to sign tomorrow, probably not announced until Roeder gets back after the weekend. Tottenham wouldn't pay him as much as he wanted and Chelsea wouldn't sell him to Liverpool, Man Utd or Arsenal. Chelsea offered him new deal but wanted first team football regularly if he could get the same money elsewhere.
