I know the party etc are generally cunts but a lot of "decent" people do vote tory (as well as cunts obviously) so I don't think it's as black and white as we sometimes portray on here. I like the idea of PR in theory but worry it will prevent the kind of radical change I'd like to see but I guess I won't see that anyway now.

Labour Conference has backed PR for the manifesto and first term. Non-binding of course.
-
Probably very naive but will they give you an extra day tagged on to the end?

Thing is the republicans and to a lesser extent the Democrats as well get away with a lot of shit as they sell this American dream where if you work hard enough, you too can be rich. I think the tories have and are trying to sell this same shit over here - a lot of people who have no business even thinking of voting for them believe this "aspirational" shit where the 150k job is just around the corner. You know they'll argue that if Labour promise to raise any taxes at all that this means they're against hard work and sadly this will probably be enough to stop Starmer from making any such promises as there are idiots out there who'll accept the tory argument.

They need to wake up to fact that losing Scotland has made majorities very hard to get.

Like you'd be able to tell with that much inbreeding.
-
Their voter base is retirees who enjoy inflicting pain on workers out of bitterness based on their shit lives - that's how it'll work.

Maybe someone should explain to the people whinging about queue jumping that they are queuing to see the biggest queue jumper in life imaginable. Might be too deep for them on second thoughts.

Newcastle United v AFC Bournemouth - QEII Sombre Edition

Still think it's Almiron/Fraser that's mainly the issue - front 3 of Isak, Wilson and ASM would work - if we can get them out there. -

Just muted the fucking anthem. -
Plus It invokes a fictional entity and binds that whole nonsense with the "know your place" tone that Rayvin mentions. It's repulsive.

My only experience of it was when I worked at the German Bank. We got a new general manager who went out and "signed" this superstar who was supposedly a sort of Beckham level star in banking. He could basically write his own terms. This was about 2007 and after it went semi tits up that year he supposedly boosted the profits by about 40m (Usual profits for the branch were about 120m) just before year end to "save" the year. I think he left either before or after the crash and I have no idea how much he was paid but there are stars out there. I have a feeling its based on networks and contacts rather than mathematical genius - I have met some successful ones who were like that but this bloke was a different level to that. BTW the biggest bonususe I and other non-front office peasants get is 20% if we're very lucky - I think I got that once.

Any media lovies crying about arrests can fuck right off as it was this government they shitfested in who passed the bill saying that the police only needed reasonable grounds that a protest would cause distress or alarm to act. Did they oppose said bill? Did they fuck.

I think the Irish/German model of a ceremonial head of state is better than the French model.

Pegee surely?

It's based on a short story and family tree Martin wrote - I don't know the written works in full but that's my understanding. I think there is a mapped out line to Rhaeghar and Jon in those works. It's a bit of a contrast to the original as instead of multiple stories in different locations which eventually combine its essentially one story in one place. I have enjoyed it so far though.

I've read articles that the mentions of JC in works by the roman historian Joesuphus which are often cited as "proof" are slightly diffent stylistically from his other writings suggesting they were added in after the event. We were taught the gospels were set in stone within 50 years of the crucifictiction which is a downright lie - they were decided at the council of Nicae in about 330 AD.

I'd also add that it looks like a lot of the Caribbean countries are starting to wake up about their past and the Royal family's role in it but that won't stop them sending some ill-advised nashing and wailing reps to the funeral to the delight of the press and establishment.

Funnily enough as I went to a Catholic school you'd expect a lot of propaganda about the history of Ireland but we barely touched on it - in or out of the actual subject of history. Maybe it was a bit of rare common sense to stay away from it. On the broader topic the way the slightest criticism of empire is cancelled is yet another facet of what I was talking about regarding remembrance day.

It's this exceptionalism (which also led to brexit) that's ingrained. I don't know what education's like now but the superiority complex we were encouraged to believe in can only exist due to the history and the way its taught. I know other countries teach a sense of pride etc and others go too far as well - notably the US - but I think we're the worst affected. I saw a meme last week of "the British empire as taught" with a picture of Superman next to " how it actually was" with a picture of Homelander out of The Boys - I'm not sure whether anyone who hasn't seen it will get it but those who have will know exactly how apt it is.

More time for the injuries to clear up - super silver lining.

This has been building for years with the remembrance poppy fascism another example.
