On a passport note, my new "blue" one didn't work in the automatic gates at Heathrow last night so I had to use a human one. I remarked that it hadn't work and he checked it and said what I thought was a natural crease near the main fold had in fact broken the chip so I'll have to replace it to use the machines. Design flaw/cheap rubbish by the looks of things. Thanks again CT.

I sat in the top tier at goodison in 85 when we lost 4-0 - due to some last minute drop outs I went on my own and the thought of a stand with escalators appealed in a pre-modern stadia era (no I wasn't 8 years old, honest) - I think it was about £4.80 for a ticket on the door.

My first visit to Roker Park was Easter Saturday 1980 when poison dwarf Cummins scored. I remember there were 76 arrests and the copper in charge described it as a "quiet" derby :). I do agree it was pretty easy compared to other places - I think the use of football special trains with strict escorts made it manageable from a policing pov. I'd add some of the Midlands places like Derby and Leicester to BD's list as always being 5 minutes from being dodgy as fuck.

Might have mentioned before but years ago before the Internet got really going and brought a practical way of storing digital media files I had the idea of buying the rights to the goal from the BBC to ensure it would never be shown again. I told this to someone I worked with who said they knew someone who worked for the BBC and thay reckoned it would have been about 50k. I used to have an Irish boss who was a Liverpool fan who used to say United referring to them all the time so I always corrected him by saying "Man United" every time - by the end of the time I worked for him (6 years) he'd been cured. His brother used to travel across from Ireland for all the scouse cunt games but he'd never been and he talked about making the Champions league final in Istanbul his first game but I did threaten to murder him if he did - just for it being his first game. He didn't go in the end but eventually went to a few normal games - they used to offer discounts on tickets for midweek games when the Scandinavian/Irish tourists couldn't make it so he took them up on the offer a few times.

My only ongoing concern is that I've had a lot of dodgy stream providers over the last ten years or so and they've all been eventually stopped. I've had iptv for about four years I think and it's certainly delivered with the bonus of the extra content including shit loads of film and TV box sets but the Captain Paranoia who sometimes lives in my head thinks it could all end at any time. I just renewed mine for about £30 (annual) but they keep sending me offers for lifetime access for 150 or so but the paranoia stops me for the reason above. Don't get me wrong, I'd go for it if I was you but just be aware that as I'm sure I don't have to tell you, shit happens.

Many years ago we drove down to West Ham and found a quiet little pub near the ground. They had a lass stripping for tips into a pint glass and she was a bit ropey to say the least. Strange that a bit like Everton there were times in the first half where I thought we were playing a decent team who knocked it around quite well and it might be even but in the end we just wore them down and won deservedly though we should have scored more. All that with a slightly below par performance as others have said.

It shouldn't really need to be said but the myriad of offences committed by Johnson and all of his appointees would lead to being sacked and prohibited from working in the same industry/business in the vast majority of other workplaces.
