1. Out of interst LM how would you have handled the IRA campaign? You seem to think that all muslims at least sympathise with the bombers so I take it all irishmen were potential murderers. Would you have closed pubs in Kilburn etc? Deported irishmen? BTW I don't think British Muslim leaders couls have been more clear in their condemnation though I agree wit the thrust of GFs post generally. Having said that I don't hear Bush "reaching out" either.
2. If you closed the Mosques whats to stop terrorists meeting in pubs? I have nothing but contempt for all organised religions but the only way foward is by reaching out to communities not alienating them. In this case that means by including mosques. Would you be prepared for the civil disorder and probable escalation in terrorism that would aaccompany something as stupid as closing mosques? Sadly I know your answer to that one.
3. Can't remember where it was but I seem to remember it was supposed to be a McKeag signing rather than MacFaul (or was it Sugget at the time?).
4. I agree on his attitude but on the rare occasions when he did turn out he (whispers) wasn't actually that bad. Which of course makes the other stuff worse.
5. Pat Heard - "Best" of a far too numerous bad bunch. Honourable mentions for Fereday,Stewart, Trewick, Albert Craig, Sweeney and Adreas Anderson
6. No, yours is fine. 69619 How about Wacky's avatar? EDIT: actually it might be more to do with the context of Wacky's first post on that page. Dunno if your mimesweeper filters on text content or not... 69621 Nowt wrong with my avatar, may have been my post though, i called souness a fucking sex case along with some other obscenities. 69636 I think it may just be the word "sex" bu that seems a tad fussy - maybe theres an obscenity quota per page that Wacky pushed it over.
7. I can see threads in General with that in. I'll check it out when I get home later.
8. Try the lo-fi version (see bottom of page), although the answer is probably 'no'. 69609 Tried that - no joy on page 2 - I think it was whatever Wacky posted that caused the problem so no surprise there. I imagine Renton said something about going for better managers. As I've argued on N-O my realistic (but bloody frustrated) view is that getting a Hitzfeld or similar would be great but I'd always be afraid they'd leave sharpish if Man U/Madrid come calling. What we need imo is a Wenger type "blast from nowhere" like Keegan was to some extent.
9. Anything interesting on page 4 of this thread? - sorry to be a problem but for some reason the mimesweeper here thinks its porn
10. What I said above was that short of getting a better manager then we are "doomed" to failure in the present climate - thats not defeatist its realistic. As I've said many times a better candidate would make me a signatory to Souness's P45 in an instant but I happen to think that at the moment a better candidate isn't clear. The point on Liverpool is that their history seems to give them the right to expect more than us. They've always backed that with money and a good choice of manager - better choices than us but then again their standing gives them more choice - do you think Benitez would have come to us?
11. No it begins with A - Arrogance based on history. 69543 So history is more important than the manager? How do you explain Souness's dismal record at Liverpool then? 69548 Mourinho has proved that ability (and money) is more important but Liverpools annual expectations ARE based on their history of dominance. They have a bloody-minded "we should win it" which takes absolutely no account of money. manager or other teams quality. On Souness reasonable scousers point to his taking over an ageing squad and miss the rise of Man U.
12. Thats the way I see it - the top 4 SHOULD be those 4 and if we're lucky/do well/they falter then 4th or 3rd is possible. It would be possible imo to break into that if we could get a Wenger/Morinho/Ferguson/Benitez calibre of manager and therein lies the crux. I think Bobby and possibly Souness (just) are good enough to get that 5th/possible higher but thats our lot at the moment. 69540 If Newcastle would fail to get a CL spot because those four teams are taking them I would not necessarily hold it against Souness. What bothers me is when the likes of Everton, Bolton or Tottenham are taking advantage of Newcastle's inability to hire a competent manager. 69549 Fair point and I agree though as I said think Souness can do it this year (5/6th).

15. I don't see how anyone could argue with, or be surprised by, him being sacked if we don't qualify for Europe (which I think is achievable). Its the "sack him now" and get another similar level manager that I think is daft. Incidentally I saw one of the tabloids had a "Hitzfeld for Man U" story on Saturday - echoing my view that thats where he'll end up.
16. Have you mathematicians taken into account the 3 games before £28m was spent? 69477 Of course But come on! No club (with the exception of Chelsea, who are in a league of their own) has spent more money on new players in the last year than we have. Are shit performances and 10th place a fair return on investment? 69480 No but I think absences have been a factor (though too easily stated as well). We need a run with the best 11/12 out to properly judge imo though I accept that the squad should be better.

18. Thats my view - I'm a "give him time" man but the performances have made me lean towards the out camp (though still not enthused by any alternatives). I think people are overstating West Ham from Saturday. I thought we deserved it quite comfortably.
19. There were people behind me at the match on Saturday singing "Souness out" when we were 3-1 up. But of course they see the big picture don't they.
20. Thats what annoyed me about that case at Charlton with Man U over the alleged sexual assault where banning was talked of. For "All muslims are terrorist" read "All football fans are rapists".
21. You're a fucking idiot. 68668 you must be a fucking naive stupid clown 68867 So what do you want LM? Should the mosque where the london bombers went be closed? Should all pubs where fights break out be closed?

DWP Scum

basically correct, strange of you to have a go at decision makers, when normally you turn a blind eye to changing "the system", however you still miss the point that millions of pounds of our money is given to people who are coming here just for that very purpose with no intention of adapting their life to integrate into the community which has given them a new home, stopping this for some reason isnt' part of your solution but it would very much be part of mine, and I suspect, others too. 68866 According tyo the CBI more than 97% of immigrants have jobs - maybe these workshy scum could teach a few people in the North East a lesson?
23. I tend to agree with Peasepud but once again I see different rules for fear of offence to the un-offendable (all religions). They talk about "criminalising" groups with no wrong-doing but that is what has always happened to football fans both in the past and still happens now.
24. They'll always remind me of 95/96 and what might have been - we always seemed to have their album on in the car on the way to away games. See also (Whats the Story) for the same reason. (That doesn't mean I now hate them btw)
