  1. Putting nastiness aside for a moment, I think Shepherd should consider his health - a 63 year old man with Pleurisy/pneumonia should surely be looking to take it easy for a while - taking the money and "disappearing" would be a good solution all round.
  2. 1. Pissed as a twat for the first time in ages 2. Been out on the piss with a couple of lads I used to work with who came down to Chelmsford especially for said piss up. 3. Unofficially offered a job in Leeds working for one of them. 4. Will probably use it as a lever at salary review in current job next month. 5. Nice to have a fallback.
  3. Unfotunately I think they've moved way ahead of at the moment - 3 or 4 years ago when it was Houllier then the gap was tiny but now with Benitez/Yanks its huge again. On the bother I'd say the truth lies in the middle as usual- arsehole element + shite policing. My order of prefernce btw is NUFC > infinity > any fucker else.
  4. The way I explained it at work today to a "football fan" who couldn't understand why I wanted them to lose was "You've obviously never seen your team play them, you've never been to Anfield to see your team play with all that involves off the pitch and most of all you don't remember what utter, utter bastards they were when they were top dogs". I'm not sure what your point is. I've seen them play at Anfield, as a neutral and against us. Never had any problems, in defeat or victory. I know you have a certain amount of bitterness towards Liverpool, for me the irony is I'll be the one treated as the odd one for wanting a fellow Northern team to do well, not you for preferring an Italian one to do well. Oh well, never mind, hoped you enjoyed Kaka's latin religious sentiments. God gave him the talent to play football but made him stupid enough to believe. I've never understood an "affinity with northerners" as you suggest - to me they were just other teams - the Hartlepools and Darlos meant nothing and I always had proper reasons to hate the ones I actually encountered eg Leeds and Sheff Weds. I know you have personal reasons for "liking" them - joking aside - and I suppose I should confess my secret as well - my brother supports them. It was actually him more than my Dad who "raised" me as a Newcastle fan but then he defected in 76 - the ultimate in treason. That is a factor but I stand by what I said - the dealings I've had with them over the years has left me not trusting them. They live the stereotype. My boss at work is Irish and supports them (he's seen them play once a West Ham this year). His brother however goes to a lot of games and couldn't get a ticket for tonight so came over to Liverpool to watch it. My boss said he'd booked the trip until Monday because he wanted to watch the victory bus tour - summed up the bastards for me.

  6. Seconded - I need to see crying in the crowd though.
  7. If I looked up "Cockney Wanker" in an encyclopedia I'd expect to see him as one of the top 3 examples.
  8. I've read about the thottling and it makes broadband completely pointless imo. My 20Mb hasn't kicked in yet but as it says that will run out in 20 minutes in their peak period. I doubt I'll stay on the top package. They try and argue its thousands of songs - so fuck - its not thousands of DVDs. I'd love to know what they consider a true use of broadband is - to browse you only need 512 max.
  9. If you're talking torrents then the most I've had is about 450/500 KB/s. The only thing that uses the full whack that I know of is binary newsgroup downloads.

    Anyone see?

It was canny - next weeks doesn't appeal too much but I'll watch - the rest after that all look good.

    Channel Tunnel

Why so patronising? If you'd never had cause to use it/look into it before then it's not exactly a crazy thought to think you could drive through it. I guess if people can believe in aliens then a 30 mile long road tunnel is feasible. Not far off.

    How Smart Are You ?

Got the baseball one wrong - how the fuck would anyone normal know that? On a point of order on the answers Noah didn't really have an ark either
  13. Parallel worlds by Michio Kaku about cosmology/multi-universes. Also trying Cell by Stephen King but lack of enthusiasm atm.
  14. All well and good but I thought we needed 4 or 5 new players not counting any releases. Now I think we need 8 or 9.
  15. Ish. I admire his professionalism and think he'll sort out the wasters but have doubts about football style.
  16. I used to work with a lad who was a veggie until he found out that fish gills were used to clear Stella and he coudn't face giving that up so converted back to human.
  17. "You know" 20 times a sentence is becoming far too common - I blame Beckham and other thick fuckers but "normal" people have started doing it as well.
  18. I'm 43 which I think just leaves Rob, LM and SpongeBob at a guess older. 34 years ago today was my first game (on .com) aged 9

    Season Review

    1. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being "Over the moon", how happy are you with this years' performance? 2.5 - must do better 2. Your favourite performance of the season? Liverpool - competed in second half against a good team and actually looked like they cared. 3. Worst performance? Fulham A 4. Best goal? Martins Vs Spurs 5. Worst goal conceeded? Any against the shit teams like Wigan, Charlton, Fulham etc etc though I'd sack Harper for Alonso's 6. Best Player? Butt or Nobby 7. Worst player? Ramage. 8. Most improved player? I would say Butt but he was okay before he got injured when he first signed - probably Milner 9. Most disappointing player? Duff, Charlie, Martins 50% of the time (more recently). 10. If you could have one match to re-play again, which would it be? Arsenal A - should have hung on and beat the bastards. 11. What would you consider as our luckiest perfomance? Spurs and Liverpool both should have been out of sight before we came back in but fuck them. 12. Realistic goals for next season? Top 8 and sad to say above + good perfomances Vs the Mackems. 13. Biggest suprise of the past season? How useful Sibierski was. 14. Biggest disappointment? How it turned out for Roeder - he had to go but I used to like the bloke. 15. Which player do you see as making the biggest improvement next year? Hopefully Martins - being able to control a ball and pass the fucker 5 yards would be a start. 16. Which single (realistic) signing would you most like to see us make? Before the other week I'd have said Woodgate - now haven't a clue. 17. Which peripheral player do you see as breaking into the main team next season? Pattinson (sarcasm) - possibly Carrol when Owen gets fucked/sold) 18. Which player is most likely to leave? Emre I think 19. Your favourite (not necessarily the "best") player this year? Probably Milner - frustrating as fuck at times but given what happened with Villa the kid played his balls off. 20. What is the main area the team needs to improve to gain UEFA Cup Qualification next year? Midfield and defence - we need to create and score more goals.
  20. I always thought of them as a nice, watered down two-tone type band for the masses who wouldn't "tolerate" The Specials and the like. Fodder for the "I have a wide musical taste" crowd. As Razorlight are to indie.
  21. Anyone who however tenuously fits the "geordie" label - see Roeder previously and now would suit Bruce, Robson and Pearce. Edit: on reading the chron add Phil Brown and Neil MacDonald.
  22. The ordanance survey map is genius
  23. Tht was one of the top 10 I think in "most offensive religious jokes ever" as "man" was substituted by "priest"

    Sam - a view

I thought Milburn signed for us in '47 - be surprised if he'd played for them. Not saying he didn't but I can't remember it from is autobiog.

Its something we recognise clearly on here Is that an insult? I genuinely can't decide btw. If you like No I just meant posts like ones in the past about rent-a-mong Sky crowds. (If I'd meant it that way I would have said "as this place proves")
