  1. I watched the last hour and a bit of Contact last night. First time around I thought it was pretty good - the bit where they didn't choose her because she wasn't a Theist rang true with me (and had me screaming at the 95% figure again) and I thought the actual conclusion of "its been done that way for biillions of years" was nicely wooly. However last night the bit with the camera really bugged me to the point of incandescent insanity - she even suggested relativity to explain her trip but then conveniently forgot about the recording time just so it could be used to make James Woods look like a twat - what a load of shit.
  2. Two points about the stream: It was 5 minutes behind and I saw the equaliser come up on BBC live text just before Faye missed that open goal that looked at first like it had went in so for two minutes I thought (and I have to say prayed to fuck knows what ) that the BBC had cocked up and we were still winning - then the stream caught up. Secondly did everyone like me want to punch Joe Royale for his absolute bollocks about the slope of the pitch every two minutes?
  3. I finally found the list of subs and he didn't have a midfield player there which I find incredible. Even then when Taylor came on I assumed he'd put Collocini in midfield - christ even Cacapa would have been a better idea than fucking up Beye and Jonas' game. Llambias: "Joe has done well since he came in". Yes if your plan was to appoint a clueless cunt who will takes us down.
  4. Stupidest substitution ever (first one). Still one good result from all his games for Kinnear and he gets a contract.
  5. So you still don't acknowledge the Reid thing which makes it personal rather than racist/islamist? We do still have a lot of racist fans being truthful but things have changed massively over the years and I think the majority find any racism unacceptable. I think the few who did abuse Mido probably did include those who thought it was just a chance to "get away with" their nastier views which they've had to supress but I think the rest were genuinely partaking of terrace humour which can be unpleasant at times within certain boundaries. I don't really care about that because I feel that unpleasantness is a side effect of the passion I feel is being lost from the game.
  6. I'd also add the other obvious point - there were no chants directed at Tuncay.
  7. You're barking up the wrong tree. It would be racist to suggest because he's arabic he's got a bomb. It's not racist to suggest he looks like Richard Reed. Right, very innocent explanation. So only newcastle fans picked up on that resemblance then? You don't see the rest of England singing songs about how he looks like Reed. It's much more likely that your fans are racist and he was being targeted as an Arab and as a Muslim, which is despicable. Are you Spanish? nope, but i am a muslim and am offended that your fans sang songs about a muslim having a bomb. yes i am aware that the spanish are a very racist group of people if that is what you were trying to get at by asking that question. however, it is good that the authorities took action against the people responsible, and i hope this doesn't happen again at SJP or at any other grounds in england. racism in all its forms needs to be tackled agressively throughout europe. Religion isn't a race. Is Arab a race? Song about black man looking like a monkey = racist. Song about arab with a bomb = racist. Mido is Egyptian - not all of them are Arabs or Muslims either for that matter - he whines in his statement about Islam because that's what religious people do - ignore all else and play the privilege card.

  10. The resemblance to Richard Reid was first "commented" on by Private Eye magazine and then taken up by West Ham - Private Eye then encouraging football fans to "point this out" which was taken up by Boro among others. Like all religious apologists Mido has ignored the "facts" and got his victim hat out - fuck him.
  11. There largest shareholder is now a Yank so they should add some Oirish-Americans - Edward Kennedy? Colin Farrel?
  12. Would love to know the facts but I'd imagine we were in the top division more than Sunderland in those years. I saw every game in that period and we never "escaped" with a draw.
  13. I'm sure we can look forward to Taylor, Samuels and the rest writing articles on how over-expectant the fans are and that they should have been grateful just to be in the Premiership - or not..... Having said that I think the way they've got the knives out for him should prevent their fans being on strong ground trying to take the piss out of us for having ideas above our station. On the man himself his "plan" of staying up last year and progressing this year with a better quality of players wasn't that bad imo - he just bought the wrong players and kept changing the team too much. I also think his typical Man U ego has cost him dearly.
  14. I'm a bit torn. Instability is good but theres a chance they might get someone with a clue. Then again they could get another Wilko. Hope they get Fat Sam and he does the same as he did for us.
  15. It's usually pretty obvious anyway - why would they need to ask? I have to say I always just shrug when there's another shooting/knifing at some hip hop/rap/R&B gig - it's sad but reflects the culture of London.
  16. Can you show me clear, unequivocal evidence of what the debt position is? I have read all the statements and have read posts both on here and on N-O which explain various accounting semantics and positions but it still remains unclear to most people. As ever the main criticism isn't necessarily whether he has or has not "paid off al the debt" - its the fact that the statements on the matter are either unforthcoming, confusing, contradictory or unclear.
  17. We're all sadly human - I won't forgive him for getting my hopes up and then dashing them and I don't trust a word he says but if he get's his arse in gear and moves the club forward then I'll be "grateful" after a fashion. Ideally I still want him gone but accept that if he has to stay (another issue) then he has a chance.
  18. Maybe they've had a realism epiphany as probably both you and I think is sensible - I don't think that's unreasonable.
  19. Exactly - that was the implied excuse for the £20m crap and will be used for the length of his stay. At the end of his 5 year plan we might be "really" debt free but lucky to be in the premiership.
  20. I agree but part of the "spec" was the value of the stadium/stands which you could argue is property which would then beg the question of why should they be different to housing which has fallen? I also made the point on N-O that maybe buying the club for £134m with a serviceable debt would suit people who want to leave more for players.
  21. I think Diouff may be a Muslim as well so no doubt booing him because he's a despicable, cheating shit would be racist as well. I think Viduka's was fat greedy bastard (ironic as that's the only reason he signed for them) so obesist/capitalist/illigetimatist would obviously be okay.
  22. I think that was more to do with several media sources reporting on deadline day rather than the Milner sale itself. The media also said that Keegan handed Wise a list consisting of Ronaldinho, Lampard & Henry but that was a load of sh*te. An obvious smear, though I couldn't see anything wrong with going for Ronaldinho in the context of Man City supposedly going for him pre-takeover. I don't think the Keegan "feeding the press" angle works for the deadline day sale story though - Barton texting SSN seemed genuine at the time.
  23. I know it doesn't apply to us, but Pompey have now proved that once in a while "somebody else" can win it.
