It again begs the question why the fuck do they seem to think bringing him back is a good idea. -

That's the doubt I was on about dickhead And anyone who thinks Ashley woke up on Sunday morning in a Scrooge like state after being visited by the ghosts of Toon past, present and future wants their heads examining. That's just put an image in my head which has made me laugh. Be fookin brilliant if that happened like Keegan, Kinnear & Shearer as the ghosts? -

I think he'd been briefed to be very strong on the 8 game mantra - maybe they think this will focus everybody for the task in hand which I agree with. He hinted that the future was "up to those in charge" which I think leaves room for him to stay. I don't mean this in a nasty way but I hope Kinnear's health gives them an easy way out of what looks on the surface like a very worrying commitment. -

Is it just me who still wants to punch Llambias? -
I'd find it interesting to ask him whether he would have put a load in for transfers if we'd been debt free when he bought the club - I don't think the £100m would have been there but maybe a fair bit of it.

Banks knew a shitstorm was coming in about September/October 2007 but it wasn't really thought of of being that bad until the middle of last year. However it was March 2008 that Ashley supposedly lost £200m on HBOS shares - a fact which I've said before shows that he is a fucking imbecile.
-
Not necessarily - I would still want Ashley out unless he put up transfer money. Of course that may be wrapped up in Shearer staying but the prospect of having any manager with the constraints of the last few windows does not make me happy. Sorry I did not mean everyone is happy as in all of us, I meant Shearer, Ashley and the Club management. We, all will never be happy. Fair enough - I think Ashley's happiness will be measured by ST renewals.

I think if it works well and we do stop up, even Ashley would be hard pressed to be stupid enough to "get rid" of Shearer. He may be relying on Shearer being forthright in insisting the job is finished but even then the negative swing of him leaving would be bad business.
-
Ashley is a reactive gambler imo - he takes decisions on the throw of a dice which is why "long term plans" has always been bollocks. In September there was no good reason as far as he was concerned to choose Keegan over Wise as he'd convinced himself the structure would work. I think he has now woken up to relegation and thrown the dice again without much thought.
-
If it wasn't the plan for him to go and it is at Shearer's request then that for me shows that Ashley has finally realised what shit we are in in having to change his plans. It also suggests they want Shearer for longer than this rescue mission.

Just laughing at cunts who are "peaceful protesters" who now want to leave and the coppers won't let them - cue the classic "We're supposed to live in a free country" - fuck off - where were you when they started doing that to football fans you Guardian reading fucking shitbags?

Should have been September the 1st not April the 1st - 7 months too late.

Just watched that and thought he spoke sense for once. -

Just got up and heard this news. I feel a mixture of too little, too late and cynicism with a spine tingle of anticipation mixed in. If we do stay up what happens then? - are we supposed to be happy going back to Kinnear or even Steve Bruce after having Shearer? If we go down anyway I don't think it will ruin Shearer for the fans but it might have an affect on him to the degree he would be reluctant to try again in better times in the future. I think its a huge gamble but at the same time an "obvious" one. A day of SSN mongness awaits - working from home due to expected riots and missing the fun that brings has its advantages. -
I only really add to threads like this when I feel connected yo the person - I absolutely loved Angel and am shocked and saddened by this news. RIP.

Not many companies would overlook a claim involving adult films though. (I know its not real porn but the point stands)
-
1. Claiming a TV subscription is wrong imo. 2. Employing family members as "researchers" or whatever the job title fiddle is is wrong. 3. the second home thing is wrong. 4. The husband of a home secretary who has an over-zealous anti-porn agenda being caught watching some (however tame) is funny.

I think the big question for me led by HF's analysis over the last couple of months is why there has been a big push to getting everything part of ths ~£100m loan owed to Ashley himself by the holding company. The point about counting the "full" value of things like Xisco's fee rather than his true worth makes sense but I'm beginning to think its part of a bigger overall ploy. I have no idea (I'll admit) into how administration would facilitate this cunning plan but I have no doubt if theres some sly accounting trick to it all then the twat will have no hesitation in doing it. I'd also say all the speculation reminds me of the stuff that he was looking for a buyer pre last summer - vehemently denied but suspiciously accurate.

When we went to PSV in 97 we didn't have tickets as just after booking flights, the club announced it was an official trip only job (Dutch police - fucking lie). Me and a mate got tickets off a tout in the main stand and found ourselves next to a lad from Utrecht who had come to see us on an always liked us basis. Since then he's become quite a good friend and as well as him having come over for a few of our games we've been across to Utrecht a couple of times. As part of that I've seen Utrecht play 3 or 4 friendlies. In the dim distant past when I was a student I also saw Sheffield United play Bournemouth (mate was a Blade) and also saw Bradford play the Manc Cunts in the league cup.

Read a comment on the SMB the other day that 6 of the team that played at Man City played in the 15 point season - sums it up perfectly.

I think it's camp gays that "frighten" straight men - no matter how intellectually I state my tolerance I think at an instinctive level a lot of blokes (including me) find feminised men a bit unnatural. I don't really like that word as its a bit too political and I believe the concept of "unnatural" is wrong but it still seems like the right word.

I used to work for the same consultancy as a gay bloke who was Irish and had a black boyfriend - he worked full time for Soutwark council who absolutely loved him as he ticked 3 boxes at once (as well as knowing what he was doing).

Agree - I was actually quite surprised when I read Bolam was born in Sunderland - he wasn't "real" mackem to me.

Probably my favourite comedy line of all time. The only thing that slightly spoils it for me is the complete lack of any genuine north-easterners - Bewes aside who did a fine job, the other actors hardly even make a token effort to sound local - Brian Glover being a good example in the classic one about the England match. .
