Even going back to the "good old days" of majority working class fans, the clubs were owned by the rich - the solicitors and monopoly shop owners like our lot or the old money bankers who owned Arsenal and so on. There's nowt wrong with the tribal /community/sense of belonging aspect of football clubs but the actual owners have never been a factor in that imo.

When we went up to Glasgow for that pre-season thing in 95 I remember asking a Rangers fan if it was boring to win everything and his reply was to ask if we'd get bored if it was us - don't be fucking stupid being the obvious reply.
