My favourite is Harlow - I used to work there and it's a fucking shithole that wouldn't be out of place in the North East.

Anyone else's vote go a third place by a fucking mile? (25k/20k/5k) Then again the Liberal would only just have won if every single Labour voter had voted for him so he can fuck off.

I would be interesting to see who would come out best if the whole lot was just cancelled on all sides and the banks started again with just the customer deposits which had been guaranteed.

Providing the release codes supllied by the Yanks work without their say-so.

This is where the root cause of the shitstorm go back to Thatcher (and Reagan I think) - they allowed retail banks to act as investment banks which meant everyone's money on the high street became that pound that was was used 30 times.

My solution to Iceland's problems is heavily discounted tourism where you show a UK passport to get a "we own you" reduction in the cost of a pint or whatever - I'm sure 60% of the price as opposed to 0% would help.

Another thing to look forward to if Cameron does win is his immigration quota being filled before the end of August and watching how they'll engineer a get out clause for footballers.

Good idea for everyone based on those classic polls where people don't know who the leaders are etc, etc.

What bitterness? I think its been fairly good natured for a political thread. Edit: I'd add that if you can't get worked about politics, which for some people represents their core values and beliefs, what can you get worked up about? You tory gimp. The big no-nos for discussion (religion and politics) are such because imo you're supposed to get wound up discussing them and people spend their lives wimping out of conflict. Of course the internet changes that in allowing the wimps to vent.

I know - I remember Trotter lauding the Siemens plant and you could cynically say that was a genuine reward of government which other places could mirror. Of course no matter where you are there will be enclaves of people who are "natural" Tories and concentrations of them in places like Whitley Bay and Gosforth will affect results but I just think it takes a special kind of selfishness to see the results of their policies around you and still vote for the bastards.
-
I might resent but I understand people who live in Chelmsford or the rest of the South East voting Tory - people who do so on Tyneside I'd quite happily see shot.
-
One of the things I'm proud of about about coming from South Shields is that it's the only UK constituency that has never elected a Tory. Unfortunately my curreny constituency will be a Tory victory barring miracles.
-
If the Tories do win a working majority it will be interesting to see how long their supporters give them before they expect this "change". Daily Hitler favorites like crime and benefit culture where problems do exist imo have their roots in Thatcher's time so I'll bet we'll soon see a similar argument applied about how it will take a while to solve 13 years of inherited problems.

Option of another year not taken up I think. To me he was a gift for Hughton when he took the permanent job - maybe a condition but I doubt it. I think at that stage Ashley had no intention of having as "good" a January as he did. Player himself was another typical fast non-footballer.

Without getting too hopeful, I'm starting to get deja vu-ish for 1992 when Kinnock though he'd done enough but there was a final strait trust factor (imo) which made a lot of people stick with Major. I would also hope that in 2001/2005 a lot of people were a bit lazy in turning out with little prospect of Tory victory but now more people like me who are more enthusiastic about keeping them out than voting positively for Labour might be a factor - obviously there is a converse possibility of casual Tories sensing victory.
-
That's why I rail against inherited wealth so much - because the cunts who have it piss on those who don't.
-
I read that earlier and thought in a Baddiel/Skinner mode "That's me that is".
-
A bit of a con - you don't pay 40% of your entire salary as tax - it's more like 28% of the whole.

Rossi was unlucky in that he couldn't play in the the UEFA and Sibierski took that chance which made it hard for Roeder to justify playing Rossi in the league.
-
I know this may not be rational but even the possibility of them forming a coalition with the Tories, even if that is a "fair" result of the actual votes means I won't vote for them.
-
Anyone in anyway connected to Labour who doesn't take a nanosecond to answer "Thatcher" to that particular question should be expelled from the party, kicked to fuck and then hanged.

I was confused there for a minute - I use a subscription tv guide called Digiguide which has a film called "The Dark Avenger" in that timeslot but with the correct description - turns out that is an Errol Flynn film from 1955 which had the alternative title of "The Warriors". The Warriors was one of those films that I associate with the emergence of video recorders - it was one of the first films you had to have once you got sorted for a machine - I remember The Wanderers and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre being in the set as well. I enjoyed it at the time but fear Gemmill may be right - I think the memorable bits will still be good but the rest may not have aged well.
-
The Liberal fucker in my constituency isn't giving up - I get daily shite from him and now have a personally addressed letter begging me to vote for them. Still hasn't actually knocked on the door yet which is a shame.

As I've said before, the BBC completely lost interest in us when it became obvious we weren't going to fail.
