But that's what was great about opening up the universities to all via grants - it didn't completely level the playing field but it was a huge step forward. That gain has been steadily eroded - first by Blair and now massivley by Cameron and it has to be said it stinks of idealogical elitism rather than practicality. .

I agree up to a point but the thing is the "rich" kids would be starting their working lives with no worries as Daddy will have paid the fees - two people who are academically equal are divided by a burden - as usual passing advantage down the generations. Thats life unfortunately. So ongoing wealth depends not on what you do but what your parents did. It might be life but stop trying to sell it like its a meritocracy - it isn't.

Tory --- Benefits claimants encouraged to breed
NJS replied to Christmas Tree 's topic in General Chat
The thing is that like a l lot of these "underclass" issues, there's no easy answer. You couldn't punish the kids being born by making the mothers poorer as that's not fair on them (the kids). Even my idealistic mass contraception/antidote on licence if it were feasible would cause human rights anarchy. -
Tory --- Benefits claimants encouraged to breed

It's true but I think the idea its new or recent-ish is wrong as well - the idea of breeding for a council house going back to the late 70s in my memory. -
I know it's bitter and petty but I wouldn't mind seeing an email campaign to the BBC/Sky highlighting other clubs "crimes" ever week. I don't have a problem with really nasty stuff being dealt with if missed but things like this are small beer imo - but it shouldn't just be us done.

First tits on TV I can remember. RIP

Hall used the argument on increasing our capacity that it would mean prices to suit lower incomes - he lied.

Aunt Bessies do the job imo.

I've stepped things up after being refused redundancy - got an interview tomorrow in Chelmsford (where I live) which will probably mean a pay cut which will mean weighing up how much 2 hours a day is worth to me (I wouldn't have to commute to London any more). Speaking to loads of agents so hopefully will get more interviews soon.

If they aren't the usual collection of 200 year old "classics", I wouldn't mind a look. -
exactly. I find bowing to these cretins who want to ban the poppy is truly offensive and insulting to every single person and the families of everyone who gave their lives in 2 world wars. The whole lot of them are showing their true colours and ought to fuck off. If anything brings to the forefront the folly of this "multiculturism" idealistic crap, its this and the heckling of our troops on British soil by the same shower of wankers, who are allowed to get away with it with the blessing of the namby pamby mob. Quite unbelievable. For what its worth I dont think there is anything wrong with multiculturism, I went to school with lads from all races and relgions and most were sound. I think people see these extremists and tar all Muslims with the same brush. I bet you could ask any Muslim on the street about finding Poppies offensive and 99% wouldnt give a shit They say they don't give a fuck There is something badly wrong with British people being told what they can do and don't say in their own country by foreigners though. I'm really pleased for you that you are unable to grasp this fairly basic concept. So now they're telling you what to do via the power of their thoughts - fucking hell they are powerful. You also "forget" how many countries there are where the British told the natives exactly what to do under pain of death.

The fawning, unquestioning sycophantic shite that we'll have to put up with for months on end. I anticipate needing new teeth because of how much I'm going to have to grit my current ones over the next few months. most of us understand the wider implications that you point out. It's a shame you also don't understand the wider implications of the open door immigration policy the namby pambys back to the hilt too. You mean the policy that most recently started in 1704 with significant changes prior to that in 1066?

Slightly dodgy source but that James May programme reckoned 50 years.

It's not so much that they broke the promise as a consequence of compromise in a coalition - it's the fact they they specifically planned to do that before hand while making it a core pledge. I'm sure there were a people on here and a few on N-O who said they voted liberal on this issue alone - more fool them.

We need to ship you off to House by the sound of things. Glad it seems to be getting better though.

The day Barton puts as many disgusting tackles and elbows in a game as Gerrard does every week or even as many as Fabregas did last Sunday I'll accept I'm biased. If you're including off the pitch antics then I'd say that but for a Scouse jury, Gerrard would and should have got a longer sentence than Barton.
-
As I've said before, if I had access to Sky's video archive and a few days, I reckon I could expose the shit that players like Rooney, Gerrard and most recently Fabregas get away with without a word on a regular basis. It's not even just Barton - Babayaro got done a couple of times for off the ball things which I don't mind as long as everyone faces the same sanctions. I'd put last night down to him being wound up by facing Allardyce - though I accept he still has a "dark side" under the surface.

said before they starting acting up like the workshy cunts some of them are [but not all of them]. But they do have a point. This is just the start. Considering the fuss MP's have made over their own scams over the years being found out.....now they are going to hit all the people who use public services to pay for the mistakes caused by bankers etc [see MF's post above this one]. It's all a bit rich, and very wrong. Typical Tories. Trotting out the speel that "we are all in it together"....utter crap. I remember Lawson [or Howe, or whoever was Chancellor] saying that inflation and unemployment were a price worth paying to sort out the economic mess when we were paying interest rates at 15%. Nowt changes with them. In a year or two, when these cuts have bitten, this govt is going to be massively unpopular and also typically Tory, they won't understand why. Anything but an increase in income tax, because THAT is what hurts themselves and their political allies and friends. Norman Lamont.

Pissed off with recruitment agents who claim to have put you in for jobs and then you don't hear from them for a week. At the same time hopeful after having a pint with an ex-boss on Monday and him promising to try and sort me out.

One of those macho cultures that wants to scream "we have no puffs" and more so wants to believe it - really fucking sad.
