Greece is fucked because its being forced to do exactly what the UK is doing - deliberately stopping any chance of growth. And I wouldn't be at all surprised if the infamous UK cuts do exactly what the Greek ones have done - actually increase government borrowing.

Thanks for that - best laugh for a while. You should watch Evan Davies's Made in Britain. Episode 2 was on last night, it describes where in the production process you generate the most value added. Its not in manufacturing. The example he uses is a $300 iPod and how that money is distributed. Its designed and innovated by Apple and made in China. Once all the parts suppliers have been paid, Apple gets $80 for its invention and the Chinese manufacturer gets $5. Do you invest $billions into manufacturing plants or into research and innovation? The UK was correct to move away from manufacturing but is not now well balanced, so there is a problem but its not fundamental, its more a question of needing a better mix. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b012brrc I remember being on holiday in the late 80s and getting talking to some Brummies who were lauding Thatcher for destroying the heavy industries in the NE beacuse they were the past and insisting that the West Midlands would be okay as their industry was "higher tech". After that I remember nastily relishing when the next recession did hit that area. I think its the selling of the nations soul wholesale to the services/financial sector started by Thatcher and continued by Blair/Brown that was the mistake. I also remember a programme years ago which even used Jersualem's line about "dark satanic mills" to suggest that the ruling classes have always looked down on industry and by extension science and innovation as ignoble pursuits. The glorification of greed is good capitalism has only made that attitude worse despite the crunch.

Is it wrong that I read this primarily as a "how to?" for posting on here?

"You do the Math" is my personal fave from those - even though an "s" on the end wouldn't stop it being fucking stupid. Then again one that isn't there is anyone English using "ass" instead of "arse" - deportation required. -
I think the number of Loanees the Mackems had last year was ridiculous and contributed to their disappointing finish but I think for one or two players it doesn't make that much difference. In the absense of any long term strategy (despite what you suggest, I don't think there is one) it's all about the team on the pitch for one year. I do however think you're right that Enrique will be sold and the lack of any defensive cover makes me cautious in agreeing with Chez. I'd also say you're exaggerating Nolan's contribution on the spirit side - it wasn't negligible but Arsenal aside, I can't recall many chips down situations that were turned around.

The fact that the statement about Wallis advising Coulson came from Tory party HQ and not Cameron suggests a backstabbing in the offing.

I don't think anyone's that surprised that the NOTW were twats CT but I think an expose of the relationship with the Met and the "incompetence" of the previous investigations makes it worthwhile.

I think the general opinion is that there both as bad as each other like.

I understood that it was invented just to give an extra seat in the cabinet - I think Whitelaw was the first under Thatcher though they do big-up the ceremonial stand-in aspects nowadays. I suppose you could argue it has a higher profile when a coalition is in force.

That's not how it works. Thankfully. Isn't it? It was when Blair resigned. Harman was deputy PM then - now that would have been a pisser - probably concentration camps for blokes.
-
Bored shitless at work - agreed to work this week as a goodwill gesture given the panic when I resigned but after handing over everything last week I have fuck all to do. Could have been worse - there was confusion with HR on Friday which suggested I'd have to do another week after this one which would have had me on suicide watch- thankfully a false alarm. Roll on the piss-up on Friday.

You know what I think of Cameron but in all honesty I don't see this as a "downfall" issue. I just hope all the flak for Cameron and Murdoch doesn't allow who I think the real villains are (the police) to get away with it.

Naw me either, much rather have my wee asus netbook, more powerful, more storage, and a 9hr battery (6 if im watching movies), really can't fault it and it's perfectly portable. The transformer does 16 hours life when docked - haven't tested it with movies but I'd imagine Android is less hungry than Windows. I've never really trusted laptops as I had a Sony Vaio about 10 years ago that was fine when on the mains but only lasted about 45 min on battery.

So what would you do with the £160,700,000 you'd have left after that spree?
-
Agreed, bet they get hounded to fuck now! I'd let on I had won a few million to explain the new house etc. true i would never go public if i won any amount of money and i would never show that ive got money either i would buy a house but not a stupid massive mansion like some rich people go for How the hell would you put a dent in 161m if you didn't buy at least one fuck-off house? Unless you bought a 500k house in 322 towns - a bit pointless.

That new Asus tablet has gotten brilliant reviews I have one of those - there's an issue with the power supply (had to replace mine with a cheap universal one) but otherwise it's great.

Been to Utrecht a few times after meeting a Dutch NUFC fan at PSV in 97 - its a typical European town/small city with a fuck-off church (great views from the top) and nice drinking/cafe squares. Decent people with no bother.

Looks good - cheers - can't connect to the google server from work but will try tonight.

Anyone with an HTC tried the HTC sense feature? I left my phone at the office yesterday when I went for a few pints after work but thought at one point I'd lost it. I logged on to the site which is suppoed to be able to remotely track/disable your phone only to be told I hadn't enabled the feature on the device. On getting to work I've checked the phone and it is enabled. I've emailed them to query it but wondered if anyone here had tried it.

Thomasson was a bit unlucky but didn't help his cause by being a bit of a tart. Andersson on the other hand was an unmitigated fairy who really should have meant Dalglish was constitutionally banned from ever signing a striker again.
-
I know it's generally true but 10k wouldn't solve every problem in people's lives. Good idea though.

I've thought about "normal" wins and reckon once you've bought a fuck-off house you could easily have a great life on the 5% income you'd easily get - at least 3 or 4 years travelling for me. Can't understand the "I'd still work" pov - why bother doing the lottery in that case? The possibility of £160m made me think the same way as Stevie - probably would have asked Ashley for a price.

There's a bar just there which we used to call the leching bar - spent hours there just watching the female world go by with a beer.

Can we please give you some money to make this place run better?

Generally no problems - occasional slowness but nowt off-putting. Don't tend to bother on my phone but its okay on my Andriod tablet as well. Though I've no problem with a subscription if needed. -
Marina for night out - but don't bother getting there till late (> 11pm)
