It must be something about the region because I've noticed that depsite being good for only 5 minutes their fans have a Man Utd type arrogance which grates. I always hated the Mackem loving cunts anyway but watching them ride this wave is a pain in the arse - especially as I have a nagging suspicion it could have been us if Ashley wasn't such a useless cunt when the Arabs were looking.

Guthrie has done well but showed he isn't quite good enough against the best - I think with Tiote we may have got something. I know I'm a biased, bitter twat but I'd love to know how a player is supposed to get in the way of a shot with his arms taped to his sides which seemingly is the only legal way of doing it. I also think Richards launched himself as soon as he felt a hand on his shoulder - an honest player would have stayed up but they're a rarity nowadays.

Caught a bit of Anglia news earlier which featured Ipswich's financial results. Basically they lost 10m but the sales of Whickham and Walters meant they broke even give or take. However the "fuck me" moment was that have debts of £66m - they are another club which only exist because of a sugar daddy.

I never even realised Gordom McKeag was dead. For what its worth they were small-minded men but its not as if other clubs were any different - comparing them with the Moores which LM has done in the past is ridiculous considering their relative wealth. No club thought of "exploiting the fanbase" to any great extent as nobody bought strips and matchday/TV income was peanuts. The richer clubs were only marginally so and the secret of success was always good management combined with that marginal weatlh differential. The idea that McKeag or Seymour could have "backed their managers" without recourse to personal wealth and with no such thing as the easy credit of the last 20 years pre 2008 is nonsense.

Chilly but it could be worse. I had a new oven oven and hob installed at the end of last week but didn't notice until Sunday that my central heating is off and I have no hot water. Recalled the bloke who did the job and it turns out the pilot won't re-light and he's stumped. Had to call the bloke who sorted it out last time but he can't come till Wednesday. It gave me the excuse to go to the gym before work this morning and I'll have to do the same tomorrow and Wednesday so quite a good kick up the arse in that respect. Last time it was fucked it was a February and I had no heating for a week and a half - I was the proverbial pensioner - wrapped up but wanting to die.

The way Ebay sends you reccomendation emails which consist of examples of the same fucking thing you've just bought in the last week - I bought one of the fuckers - why would I need another one? See also Amazon personal home page - same thing.

I worked in Gosforth in a few different places in the early 90s and I remember Temple Park gym in S/S where I used to go closed for 6 weeks for rennovations so I went to that gym for that period - first visited on a Tuesday and on the Thursday somebody shot the owner in the doorway - and I thought Gosforth was supposed to be posh(ish). I have no time for pets - generally I think they are pointless but that doesn't mean I think any form of abuse is acceptable. My next door neighbour has two dogs - now there have been times in the past when they have been having a barking competition that I've had dark thoughts about mercy killings but generally I don't mind them. Last night the neighbours had a few people round and were letting off a shit load of fireworks which is annoying but not a great crime in itself but at a couple of points I could hear the dogs who were both out and about in the back garden whining and crying. You'll be surprised to know I think the Poppy appeal/fascism is a load of shite but at the same time I think FIFA should be shot for this - saying it's "political" is ludicrous. As others have said I'd let the team wear it and then pay the fine (but donate it to charity otherwise it'll just go into the pockets of the fuckers).

DPD couriers There are a couple of online retailers I've stopped using because of their use of these fuckers but sometimes you never know until too late. Bought a new monitor off Ebay (business seller) on Thursday - next day delivery but turned out it was via DPD. It was scanned at the depot at 1am on Friday morning but never went out for delivery. Phoned them last night and arranged depot visit this morning. I sat for an hour while they looked for it only to be then told it wasn't at the depot so they'd need to investigate - basically a driver or warehouseman has nicked it imo. Phoned them when I got home only to be told to contact seller and then be told that they (DPD) have absolutely no escalation or complaints process. I asked her how any customer focused business could fail in that respect so badly but got no response. I've emailed the seller and asked for a refund so I can buy one elsewhere. Never, ever use these people - and boycoutt any seller who does so.

You can just imagine how clever Pulis thinks he is for doing it (though I suppose given their continuing top flight status he would argue it works). I remember Souness doing the same at Rangers where he allowed a team (Dinamo Kiev?) to actually train on the Ibrox pitch and them narrowed it as much as possible before the match just to upset them.
