  1. It's "fair" because only a tiny percentage of rich people "earn" their money. Most wealth is either inherited directly or comes through priviledged network access which is usually restricted.
  2. Some fuckers set off a load of fireworks a little while ago - this succeeded in making next doors yappy litle shit of a dog bark incessantly for 20 minutes. Only the fucking street party tomorrow to get through now - might be time to test how loud my amp actually goes - I don't own the Pistols but I'm sure I can come up with something to disgust the twats.
  3. So you're going to join in with everyone else to celebrate something you don't care about and I'm the sheep? Yeah, right.
  4. Just ditched T-mobile to go to three - I exceeded the 1gb last month and I didn't like the way they texted me with a message like I was a naughty kid and restricted access for the rest of the month. Plus the reception during my daily train juourney is shit so I've given someone else a chance.
  5. it sickens me to the very depths of my being - can't wait for it all to be over (though it would be funny if she kicked the bucket today) I thought the brainwashed, complete lack of self-respect fucking stupidity of the whole thing was an older generation thing - like racism and homophobia - but the way everybody seems so happy about it is fucking terrible.
  6. Love Balotelli's comments - guarantees he'll get abused.

It will be funny to see what happens to a liberal bastion like Sweden when he ends up in Guantanamo.
  8. Apart from the attack on the Asian lads which was terrible, the rest was just typical bbc hype. Obviously there are a lot of scum there but the reporters naive shock was laughable. I do however think it was wrong to give them the finals as they are dodgy countries on a few levels.
  9. Nothing will ever, ever be worse from a miscasting pov than that stumpy twat playing Lestat.
  10. Francis is a bit old school but I enjoyed them when I did read them years ago. From that reading era for myself if you like "easy going" but decent thrillers have a look at Alistair MacLean and Desmond Bagley - some of the cold war settings will seem old-fashioned but there are a lot of bloody good stories.
  11. Not a genre I frequent but one of my favourite authors (Dan Simmons) who mainly does Sci-Fi type stuff has a series of books about an ex PI (Hard Case, Hard Freeze and Hard as Nails) which I'd thouroughly recommend). I'm also a fan of the Jonathan Kellerman Delaware books.
  12. Despite HF's definition, I think theres a different between starting a possibly illegal war and being guilty of genocide which I think is a clearer definition of "war criminal" - possibly semantics - but like I said it's not as if Blair has his own Srebinica.
  13. I'm not convinced the wars were legal so from that pov it could be said he could face charges on that basis but as I've said before, the lefty shite about him killing a million people is bollocks. He might be a tory cunt but he's no Mladic.
  14. 1. You can read to gain knowledge as well - pointing out the tory who's never read any history or economics would too easy - to keep up the music references "Libraries gave us power". 2. Further to 1. I doubt your capacity to use your imagination. 3. Do you really think the people on here who've indicated a love of reading are socially inadequate?
  15. Of course people are individuals but I have core tenets for what I think of as a "worthy" person. I don't trust blokes who don't like football. I don't trust people who don't drink alcohol. People who don't read are dead inside. Probably some more.
  16. You do realise LM that they had a director of football alongside Dalglish and are looking for another (Van Gaal?) now.
  17. I see not toning down my accent too much at work as an act of defiance. I've worked with loads of people who assume accent = thick and I see it as my duty to prove them wrong. If people won't put the effort in to understand what I maintain is pretty clear English then fuck them.
  18. Not that bad at all - certainly not as bad as you'd made out - but fuck knows what's going on with "shut". This reminds me of how I upset a Cath in the early days of the board by suggesting that exiles who lost their accents were weak characters - funnily enough this was on the back of when she was in Manchester so after actually hearing what she sounds like I haven't got a clue why it upset her as she is hardly Sally off Coronation St. I think I benefit living here from having mates who are exiles (though a couple have now gone home) and also the amount of time I used to spend going to the matches every week and mixing with humans. I think I have lost some of my rough edges but I still think its a matter of character as well. I think I articulate the language quite clearly "despite" my accent so don't feel the need to compromise.
  19. I skim watched it. The bit where he explains to them what he's going to do is very disturbing and quite effective from a horror pov. Overall I didn't like it.
  20. Cole is supposedly a target for Allardyce.

  22. By the way Ant the doubling up also appiles to any links - two tabs open up with either these recording or the photos in the Mackem thread.
  23. I'll do mine in a little while and if you still call me a mackem I'll have to kill you.
  24. Very slightly more intelligent Lee Clark
