  1. It's you that's blind. I regret the demise of the "old" industries - especially the way it was done - but the point is that they've been replaced. My best mate worked at Westoe from when he was 16 until it closed. He's now a supervisor at Nissan - guess which he prefers? And if you try and make the point that any profit goes to Japan I don't really care as any "Britsh" profit is now shipped abroad anyway.
  2. Well I'm on a train that's just left Stratford after going for a couple of pints after work and its very civilised - last day for a while I suppose.
  3. If you can't prove that and HF has demonstrated the opposite with facts then you've just become LM.
  4. Recognition of "the wild west" in shaping the culture seems to have lead to a desire to go back to those days. Of course it would be a Hollywood version where everyone was a crack shot and the good guys always win and not reality where kids drown in pools of blood.

    Weather Check

The only one I remember as a kid was my sister's wedding and I'd already left in another car for the church (as obviously my dad and the bride were last to leave). My mates enjoyed it though - the bastards.

    Weather Check

Judging by the speed restrictions put in place at Stratford this morning, I presume the Olympic cunts are doing a rain dance as we speak.
  7. According to a couple of people on N-O it picks up again in ep 4.
  8. That fucker in Whitehaven had a police endorsed gun licence so even that system isn't infallible. This argument that the bad people have them doesn't cut any ice with me - unless you want a return to some kind of American Wild West where everyone struts around town willing to draw when someone spills your pint. Murder rates in the first world have massively reduced over the last 200 years and I'd like to think its because we've become more civisilised and recognised that the desire to solve disputes or protect possessions with violence via weapons has reduced. Of course one country bucks that trend. Funnily enough its also the country that jails more people than anyone else per capita and also the one that executes the most. This ruins the argument that deterrents work both on stopping criminals from carrying guns or indeed from using them. As I said the US is fucked up when it comes to guns - the solutions aren't easy but as long as people equate them with human rights they're fucked.
  9. If I was a "Rangers" fan I'd be concened about the bloke who's bought them - if it had been Smith's consortium at least they'd know it was someone with the club and its history as their concern. This Green looks like soneone who saw a chance to buy the name/assets for a ludicrous price with at best the sole intention of making money. It reminds me very much of the succession of dodgy fuckers who "bought" Portsmouth. Also McCoist just doesn't get it that "Rangers" are dead and gone and the company he works for have nothing.
  10. I might be wrong but Colorado is I think a semi-sensible state compared with others in terms of concealed wepon carrying but it's interesting how TP used the "defending the home" argument for guns in general. I can't imagine how many more people would die in incidents like this if a few people pulled guns and started having a wild west type shootout. I suppose its possible it could limit the deaths if someone got lucky early doors but in general I think it would be worse. I find the idea of ostensibly "sensible" people walking around with guns just as frightening as nutters.
  11. Possibly but I expect to see something in a player no matter how young they are- and I'm just not seeing anything.
  12. Talking of nothing players, I don't see the point of Gosling.
  13. tbf if they'd substitute "footballer" for "striker" regarding Vukic they'd be right - he's a nothing player imo. Also I'm really starting to resent the fact that Obertan "earns" a living in football - he's fucking abysmal.
  14. I don't think its as simple as gun availability - though it doesn't help - I've read arguments that Canada has similar levels of gun ownership and a similar-ish culture but a far lesser gun crime rate. That may of course be due to less inequality/poverty which doesn't affect this paricular scenario of the lone shooting spree. I think you have to look deepr at the culture and the country's history to try and understand why they are so obviously in love with guns. Of course a greater abundance of people who think its a good idea to go on such a spree is another question that's hard to answer.
  15. Billy Bragg is by far my favourite - especially his underrated love songs.
  16. Not sure about fainiting but I caught a bit of one of those Sexectera things once where a female porn star described how Ron Jeremy's wasn't ever really hard and described it as a bit "spongy" - I think there must be issues with big ones - especially as they get older.
  17. Maybe an autoerotic asphyxiation scandal would be prefereble - then again anything that costs the people who've profited the most some money would be ideal.
  18. It's a horroble capitalist whorefest. I don't really like any of the sports but think as a spectacle/ocassion its a good premise and thought it was a good thing when London got it. The way the Tory Cunt (Coe) has sold it out though sickens me. I find the idea of "VIP lanes" and people being told what they can and can't wear and eat to be beyond nausea. Add in the way a poxy little cafe isn't even allowed to use "2012" in any way shape or form and its gone way too far. I've got to the stage where I hope theres a major fuckup involving the bigwigs - maybes not as far as death but anything short of that.
  19. Irish bars might be shite on the whole but when you don't like lager (apart from in moderation) the fact that some serve cider can be an absolute godsend.

    Jon Lord

Only really get these threads when it's someone who means something to me. First band I ever got into were Deep Purple. I've always preferred guitar based music but some stuff does prove keyboards can have a place in rock - and this bloke was the epitome of that. RIP
  21. If we can get a good deal then its well worth it as he's a good player - don't forget as it stands we have two good strikers (leaving doubts about Ba aside) and Shola.
  22. One band I would never describe as "a load of noise" would be The Stone Roses - a lot of their songs are very "clean" and a few other quite whimsical. I suppose some of the second album is more dense. They were one of those bands for me that more define a time rather than liking them categoricallay for the music - a bit like Oasis in that sense. I never got the dance crossover thing either as I never went clubbing with that in mind. Basically if you've heard I wanna be adored, Made of stone and Sally Cinnamon (all just songs not albums )then you've just about covered them imo.
  23. Now will come the "timely" reorganisation of the whole league that will have them back at the top in two years at the most.
