I think there's usually two of them so they were short which for most people means a compromise when it comes to service. Also the shop actually closes for an hour (like its still the fifties) between twelve and one which I knew and had avoided.

On a semi-related sexist note I always notice shops ran by women to be annoyingly mismanaged in terms of not staffing tills and other basics. I was in a chemists last week where I had to leave the prescription and come back because the sole duty pharmacist had gone out to lunch - I asked if it prevented service why couldn't she have brought a sandwich or sent one of the others out to get her something only to be met with blank faces and "why should she?" Fucking morons.

Judging by Swansea's, West Ham's and Stoke's results today, maybe we aren't so shite after all.

Two films over the weekend: Super 8 - started well and a decent premise but became too much of an "misunderstood alien that just wants to get home" cliche - the kids were okay though. Prometheus - I think others have said it was disappointing - too many convenient plot devices and annoying little asides ruining what could have been a good story if it had been given a bit more depth. I understand that they can't give answers as they want a series of films but at least some would have been a start.

Attacking that area is pretty standard now - that's where we drank in 99 without hassle but Boro were attacked there. Of course there's no chance of revenge as Italians disappear unless its at least five to one in their favour.

My Mam gave up smoking 30 years before her death but it still got her in the end. When it comes to drugs I'm in the "it's your body, do what you want" camp but I would quite happlly see everyone involved in the the tobacco industry since it was discovered to be a carcinogen killed with nail guns.

Not on a plane but I had the same experience as Chez - just made it home yesterday before my guts exploded (thankfully no vomit so far) before having to dive under the duvet, shivering uncontrollably for several hours punctuated by more toilet hell. Had to take today off as I'm completely drained.

Both of those were blighted by injury as well. I remember when Brownlie scored his first and I think only goal - it wasn't quite the same as Frank Clark scoring (just before my time) but it was definitely well celebrated.

I think in some ways the idea of making it about all wars and maybe not deliberately just the British army is the problem. If it was "limited" to the two world wars I think more people would feel more comfortable about supporting it (I know I would) as its only when its extended to Iraq, Ireland and other places where the British army have been cunts that politics come into it. I can understand why its all lumped together but I think that has a down side as well.

Its more the charity that bothers me than the sentiment and I have no objection to silences/wreath laying. I've said before I have little sympathy for those who sign up without conscription but having said that the state should provide for those who are injured/killed .
