  1. If 500k "proper" jobs had been created I would have expected to see a huge increase in tax receipts. As this hasnt happen the only conclusion is they are mainly shitty jobs. Another two million jobs wont help if it means no more tax. Of course I want to see more people in work but not as virtual slaves.
  2. The anomaly is that its mainly shit jobs being created - ones which are the aim of quitting the EU.
  3. SSD firmware? Ive never had to bother with hd firmware but have noticed it mentioned s few times in relation to SSDs.
  4. Yes but minus two crucial players and counting.

    Yoan Gouffran

We need a ball holder/upper if that's what Stevie meant - very underestimated part of Ba's game. I'm counting this bloke as a better version of Obertan going by his YouTube thing.
  6. Signing this Gouffran sounds okay to me as we need more strikers as long as we still sign a better/bigger name as well. Probably dreaming though.
  7. I think we'll go down now because at a basic level Pardew is a cautious, defensively minded manager. For me the game was lost yesterday when he brough Perch on at 1-0 - he'll do that again and again and in the end it will cost us dear. The only two successfull battles against relegations in my lifetime (87 and 08) were characterised by managers and teams who prospered through attacking football (though McFaul would have been fucked without Gazza's return from ingjury) whereas the three relegations have all featured negative, dour teams with no confidence and manager's who'd lost the plot. Currently we resemble the latter and I don't think Pardew has it in him to change quickly enough to what we need.
  8. And funnily enough given this thread as I've said before when I forced myself to watch the full highlights a few years ago we absolutely pissed on them and Green laid on about 3 or 4 open goals for MacDonald who missed the lot.
  9. I remember a couple of my mates who think as highly of the man as I do questioning him over the 2008 walkout saying he should have stayed and worked it out - I told them to wait for the compo trial and fair enough they told me they'd been wrong for doubting him. I've said before the double edged sword for me was his last comeback restarted the flame of my love for football which was barely fluttering at the time but sadly how it ended had the result of pissing all over that - not because of him directly but because of how it showed up how shit football has become since he left in 97.
  10. Kenny Wharton was a hero of mine but in hindsight I'd tend towards your view. Having said that I never thought he was a great player - he was just a geordie through and through who got stuck in and was occasionally a righteously dirty bastard.
  11. It would be funny if he came out with "Fuck the money I'm signing for a bigger club".
  12. This reinforces my view that British players should be given thirty seconds to decide whether to sign for us and foreigners a day at most. It's how football is now - and yes I do hope hes a complete failure. I also think there's an element in signing him of scuppering us as well which I wouldnt put past the twat. It's like when Rangers and Celtic sign players from lesser clubs just to ensure they aren't challenged.
  13. It won't happen but I'd quite like Man City to score seven.
  14. If we have to rely on Jonas, Marveaux and fucking Obertan we are down. If we get Ben Arfa, Cabaye and any other fucker apart from Shola playing we'll be fine.

    Colo Gogo

So we are left with getting 1m (total guess) for a player as important as him? I'd let him go on the proviso he makes up the difference in lost transfer fee.
  16. Add in the fact that two strikers left in the summer and our other "senior" strikers are Shola and Ranger you could almost say we deserve to be relegated for such crass management. I think even if we sign one decent striker this month we are still in deep shit.

    Demba Ba

Just shows how winnable it is given a decent draw - ie not Man U away straight off.
  18. Sad to say but one thing Stevie and LM definitely have in common is a tendency to childish strops and bouts of name calling. Stevies strong opinions make him worth reading but the other side of that is that he doesn't half take the hump too easily. The flip side of the internets ability to bring people together from miles apart is that you can't settle shit like this like you do in the real world with a shrug and a pint.
  19. I actually love "switch off brain" films as a genre but there still should be something there at a basic level which I maintain this lacked. I can see the out of his time thing others have mentioned being interesting but still think the ground work should have been better.
  20. It's more the overall rating than the "lazy" thing which I think is just his style. I don't doubt his commitment I just thing he isn't good enough. Robson was a great manager but he had blind spots - of course everyone does and its convenient for me to say that Shola was one but I still think he's never been top notch and can consider himself damn lucky to have had the career he has. There have been loads of equally commited local lads over the years who've had to settle for a career at a lower level and he should have been another imo. Nothing defines the last ten years of mediocrity better than him still being close to first choice.
  21. I've said before its very telling that the only one to see through him was KK.
  22. I watched Captain America the other day as I downloaded The Avengers a couple of weeks ago and thought I should see all the base films before wacthing that - I've seen the rest. I don't think I've ever seen such a shallow film - I know modern super hero films do have an element of asking you to switch your brain off but fuck me this was taking the piss - no depth to characters or plot in any shape or form - this was summed up by hiim putting a gang together and in about 5 minutes destroying every secret Nazi base in Europe. They could at least have wheeled out a 95 year old lass at the end for a bit of closure but no (of course there may be something in The Avengers about her for all I know but still).
  23. Agree with this. Up until their second I thought it was a game which even though they looked a better team in some ways, I still thought we could win. It's the way we fell apart that's the most worrying thing. I understand it in terms of rock bottom confidence after recent games but it doesn't bode well. It makes me think back to how low we were under Allardyce and how long it took KK to instill belief. This time around we are relying on new and returning players rather than a new regime.
  24. Little kid lost against a good team - one or two mini-dribbles deosn't fool me.
