Thera are lines which you aren't allowed to cross - inciting hatred leading to violence being an obvious one but there's also a lot of hypocrisy around it where anti-semitism is seen as beyond the pale but other subjects are allowed. I hate the way it seems you can't call Israel a bunch of cunts without being accused of being anti-semitic - I call cunts as I see them regardless of tribe. Saw a couple of good tweets from Frankie boyle on the subject - one where he mentioned a paper (didn't say which but it would have een the Mail or the Sun) stating its outrage at Paris and defending free speech but the same paper attempted to get him prosecuted for making a joke about the Queen on Mock the Week. He also mentioned how good it was to see people demonstrating in support of freedom in Trafalgar square and not in Parliament Square where they'd be arrested (there's a specific law preventing any form of gathering there).

I thought that Bridcutt looked a canny player but of course that was against us when they all turn into fucking worldbeaters. (God I hope that's over now).
-
I reckon if we'd tried a short corner like that it would have been disallowed and the taker booked for ungentlemanly conduct.
-
I agree with that but if they tried a UK declaration now (or at any time in the past) it would include the monarchy and for that reason I'd be out.

Haven't seen the film but write-ups I've seen suggest they misportrayed him as he was open about being gay and quite sociable - the idea that he could have been blackmailed is supposedly bullshit.
-
It would have been something approaching a fair statement if and when his review and appeal had succeeded in simple miscarriage terms but as of now it's disgraceful.

I think the four hundred year head start would work if it was up to the 18th century but I think technology and how small the world has become renders it moot to a large extent. I've said before that our best hope is for Muslims to be "corrupted" by western freedoms and I'd like to think the modern world accelerates that process. Of course for every two steps forward, there's one step back due to US led fuckwittery.

Its a hard one for me as I think going out of your way to insult someone is daft but at the same time I think you should be able to in the right context. I think sites like Jesus and Mo should be allowed but as you say someone printing one out and sticking it on a wall is going too far. I suppose the average Muslim isn't going to read a magazine like this so in a way they're just playing up to their market but that obviously shouldn't mean retribution like this if Muslims are "directed" to them by shit stirrers as happened with the Danish cartoons.

Maybe there is no message and motive other than to carry out the proscribed punishment for those who insult the prophet. It's like the Westboro Baptists - the argument is they aren't true to their faith but I'm afraid if you actually read the holy books they pretty much are and its the namby pamby modern reasonable Christians/Muslims who are heretics.

That'll be 97.5% carried out by Christians, Jews and Buddhists then.

Alan Pardew - Poltroon sacked by a forrin team
NJS replied to Kid Dynamite's topic in Newcastle Forum
So he's a good manager because taking into account spells in the lower leagues, his record is just better than a selection of horrifically shit managers? Right.- 10610 replies

I liked Under the skin apart from the lack of proper explanation. It just appealed to my "weird" sensor.

I presume that's a list of those least likely to go tits up. Should only really bother anyone with more than 85k in an account.

Did that the first time I was there - scariest driving I've ever done. I've hired a car this time as well and will do more exploring. That first time was in a Jeep which in summer was a recipe for being fried alive.

I don't really expect it to be more than 20 at the most. Just fancied somewhere relaxing and semi-familiar for a break. I'll go somewhere ridiculous later in the year.

Have been in over the two weeks so I'm enjoying seeing the barely controlled despair on the faces of people returning today. This is being enhanced ten fold by the fact I'm fucking off to Cyprus next Friday for a week.

Robert was inconsistent but he was infinitely more consistent than Ben Arfa. He also had a better attitude imo which is some indictment of BA considering how shit Robert's was at times. Ginola was better than both of them and Beardsley was better than him
-
Well if he did have any desire for the job he might as well have played a proper team today and played this team next week for the difference it will make then.

Watched that and ejnoyed it but wasn't it a bit strange there were no contributions from Peter Richardson, Nigel Planer and above all Ade Edmonson? There were thanks to Mayall's wife at the end so it couldn't have been that "unauthorised".

Small point but i think the money from cabaye and debuchy does just about cover the summer spending.
-
No coincidence that his cameos against Everton and yesterday almost and did cost us points.
-
Pardew must inspire people to brown nose him no matter how well they know him - just caught that Millen bloke from Palace on SSN saying Pardew has "an outstanding record" as a manager. Maybe Carver is the victim of a master hypnotist.

I would have the cunt sacked (and committed) for his spirit of Robson shit. Aside from that he showed he's not an alternative to Pardew but central to the problems that have plagued us - massive distrust of flair. I remember him leading the "that's why he doesn't play" refrain regarding Ben Arfa for "costing" us the game at WBA for losing the ball so its obvious Cabella is regarded in the same way. Purge the lot of the fuckers.

I loved it but I would say that really. I do get the view that they've toned it down but I would argue that they always did have the stadium/Queen/Coldplay however you want to put it in them anyway. It's not as if the early albums didn't have stuff like Motorcycle Emptiness, Little Baby Nothing and even Yes on THB to illustrate that. I do consider my fan-ship of them to be a bit like my liking of U2 - I can take or leave some of the recent output but as long as they keep touring "the classics" I'll be there - I have booked up for the Cardiff Castle gig in June.

What did you think of the holy bible gig?
