He's a bit of a prick but has now learned that playing up to that is lucrative. I quite enjoy the show and its ongoing downward trend actually adds to that but I wouldn't care if it ends now. The bbc's finances will suffer though.

On the Cole thing, I suppose he could argue if he was feeling a bit off then it might be sort of better for the team to have someone else who was 100%. Probably wasn't his thinking but I hate having to think badly of someone I really liked. (See also Beardsley's brown tonguing of Ashley)

I hold my hands up to not being a pet lover (while still opposing cruelty) but the number of articles referring to the Crufts "murders" really should have the journalists/editors shot.

As I mentioned when talking about remembrance Sunday, I don't believe there's been any deployment since WWII that's been really justified except maybe the Falklands but I'd argue that was avoidable. I suppose you could argue for NI but that was a huge fuck-up generally.

I'd like to see a wider debate on why we need any significant armed forces at all. Explain the scenarios which merit intervention abroad or the need for "defence" in general and then measure how likely the scenarios are. Of course it would raise too many questions about the need for engineered threats to justify arms sales but at least it would be honest (ish).

Annoying as the Tories blaming the previous government for the financial crisis is, it pales completely with them getting away with blaming them for creating "benefit culture" as if the 80s never happened. I would honestly consider introducing a test before allowing people to vote covering the last 50 years of current affairs and basic economics.

Cameron and Milliband are both trying to sleepwalk to some kind of victory. Cameron hopes laying low only to emerge to mutter "recovery" will work and Milliband hopes not even emerging will work (although at least he was game for a debate). Nobody wants or has a vision to sell.

Noticed on the streaming site I use for football that they've released a plex plug-in so I whacked it in and can now watch drivel like tonight's "entertainment" on all my Android devices including over 4g.

I got a random email last month from a site/app called BandsInTown which I installed and it browses the music on your phone then supposedly alerts you to local gigs based on bands you like and similar ones. To be fair a couple of useful ones have popped up but mainly for gigs I already knew about but I got one earlier for Belly playing a club in London tomorrow. Now Belly are one of my favourite bands ever and I worship at the feet of Tanya Donelly who was their leader but I know despite the question aleways being asked of her it's as unlikely as a Smiths reunion but I still allowed myself to start getting my hopes up. Turns out its some MC/DJ calling himself Belly - what a pisser. On a bright note the Goddess Tanya has been playing a few shows in the States so hopefully a trip across here might follow.

I like the argument that 65k isn't enough so they need another source which is actually a demand to pay them a lot more. Of course even if their salaries were trebled, most of the cunts would still stick their snouts in other troughs.

It's always particularly hilarious when they refer to "superstitions" like astrology or other aspects of spirituality as somehow worth mocking with absolutely no awareness of irony.
