I'd add that assuming that those of Turkish backgrounds would/should vote for "Turkish" candidates just because of their ethnicity is ID politics at its worst.

How many of Martin's travesties at forest would have been reversed? At present none - it would have to be pretty much every call to prevent that from happening. I also think the ref's association will whine, the more decisions are reviewed.

Well I'm not saying it's perfect but there is/was a lot of ignorance around EU democracy. I don't think people realised that commissioners are appointed by the government's much like the house of Lords in the UK. Then there's the contempt the British public in general have always shown EU parliamentary elections, even voting that cunt Farage in.

I know there are people who are very anti-eastern European but I sadly think a lot of people conflated the EU with "brown" immigration as well.

Well ended up being a boring twat and sticking to what I know I've arrived in Cyprus for a week. Amazingly enough, busier than January but not as busy as September (my last two visits).

I find it interesting that he was 52 - perceived wisdom is that first/second generation Muslims are more integrated and its disaffected younger people that are more prone to radicalisation. It looks like he was generally a thug which might be a factor - being naturally violent might have made him more prone.

ETA were for the main part "ethical" terrorists who only targetted non-civilians. I think they slipped latterly though. I always thought the IRA were a bit Schizo - some bombs like the one in Wigan were completely cuntish but other times fully warned ones like the ones in the city could be said to be "better". This doesn't excuse their criminal gangster side killings of people in their homes which was particularly shitty.

I used the term murderer deliberately - I think the difference between him and Adams was that the latter always leaned towards the political solution and wasn't involved in the nitty gritty though no doubt aware. McGuinness on the the hand I believe would have personally ordered killings - including internal ones.

I've always been able to understand why oppressed people get angry enough to fight - it's just the killing civilians that's unpalatable.

It's usually the case that when terrorists are involved in brokering peace and becoming part of it, people either cling on to one view of then or the other (Mandela, Dyan). I just think ex-murderer who changed over time and made a huge difference in the end.

Started Sneaky Pete as my work lunch viewing - a bit slow but warming to it. I still catch the odd Malcolm in the middle on Sky and I find Cranston's progress from nice, simple hubby through semi-cunt to now full on cunt quite amusing.
