1. He can move, he just needs permission from UEFA...
2. THE TYNE IS RIGHT TO LUQUE AT EXIT DOOR By Alan Nixon NEWCASTLE UNITED are ready to sell Spanish flop Albert Luque - with Barcelona and Real Madrid making shock moves to take him home. Luque has had a nightmare time on the Tyne since joining in a £9.5million deal from Deportivo La Coruna but he could be sensationally rescued by one of the giants. Despite his poor form and a recurring hamstring problem, caused by a combination of the cold and Newcastle's training pitch, he has been miserable on and off the pitch. But in Spain Luque is still rated highly and a move would suit everyone, especially as Luque can make a bid for the World Cup squad AND play in the Champions League. Barca have made a shock inquiry and would take their former target if Newcastle are reasonable on the price. Luque was born in Barcelona, where coach Frank Rijkaard is looking for a recruit or two as he chases the La Liga title and Champions League glory. He can play through the middle or wide on the left - two areas where even the mighty Catalans have been caught short because of injuries recently. And agents working for Real are also checking on Luque's health and welfare - with a possible swap on the cards. They have right back Michel Salgado and even Toon old boy Jonathan Woodgate as potential makeweights. Salgado could lose his place to Brazilian new arrival Cicinho. Both will want to play in the build-up to next summer's World Cup Finals and the veteran Spaniard will not take kindly to being dropped. A move to Madrid may appeal to Luque more although the struggling giants would have to get a full-time coach installed before committing to a firm offer. Either way Newcastle now seem sure to be sellers, clawing back some of their cash for boss Graeme Souness to re-invest on other positions in the next transfer window. Luque only arrived in August, after impressing against Newcastle when Deportivo knocked them out of the Intertoto Cup. But the move quickly turned sour. He played just twice for the Toon before being ruled out injured for two months. He has made a tentative comeback, but has yet to be on the winning side for Newcastle after five games for the club. United want Celtic's Stilian Petrov and could mount a £3m bid if Luque goes and gives them cash and leaves them with a vacancy.
3. I'm all for Carr leaving although I can't think of any quality right backs out there who are available to replace him...
4. Has he been worse than the two B's at the back for us? 66825 Wouldn't have a clue as I've not seen enough of him this season. One of my mates was saying in the pub that on current form that it's the weakest centre back pairing that France have had for years. 66827 Yet France only let in 2 goals in qualifying for the World cup, although when I watched them it was Boumsong partnering Thuram. As for Silvestre, we could probably get Distin for the same money and he's a far better player...
5. Charles N'Zogbia has been nominated for the Carling Cup New Talent award. The French winger is among six nominees. The award, which recognises outstanding young talent in the competition, was won last year by Watford's Jay Demerit. N'Zogbia's rivals for this year's award are Davis (Aston Villa), Lupoli (Arsenal), Rossi (Man United), Thomas (Charlton Athletic) and Watson (Crystal Palace). The winner will be awarded a trophy before the Carling cup final and will be decided by the fans, here's the link to vote. http://www.carlingcup.premiumtv.co.uk/page...,,11995,00.html
6. Put him on the right and stick Solano in the middle, he spends most of his time there anyway...
7. Thats what he said in an interview, he also said something along the lines of "It's not always possible to go down the wing and get balls in so I have to come inside"
8. John Solako said it should have been a penalty though, oh well...
9. He's fractured his hand and is expected to be out for 3 weeks...
10. Ameobi is supposed to be playing on the left
11. Team for today. Given Ramage Boumsong Bramble Elliott Solano Parker Faye Chopra Ameobi Shearer
12. -- from the censured interview -- Scholes - "Treated disgracefully." Ronaldo - "Show Pony!" Rooney - "Quality but still learning. Unfair to place such a burden on him." Ferdinand - "Attitude stinks! Thinks he can coast through matches." Richardson - "Should have been sold to WBA. More trouble than he's worth." O'Shea - "Early promise not fulfilled. You don't have a blip that lasts 3 years!" Van Nistelrooy - "Not a team player but still a great goalscorer." Miller - "Not good enough. Couldn't impose himself on Exeter or Barnet!" Smith - "Not a midfielder." Fletcher - "Age not an excuse. He hasn't improved one bit and is now in his 3rd season. By the time Becks and Scholes were his age they were match winners." On tactics - "It's nothing to do with me. I don't need any extra help. I know my limitations and I can play my game without an extra man in there getting in the way!" On Fergie - "Maybe he is not as focussed as he once was." On Carlos - "An easy target. It is unfair to pin the blame on him." On United - "We stood still, took our foot of the pedal. I could see it even back in 2000 and 2001. We walked the League but I knew people were faking it. The teams below us were bound to improve and we have allowed it to happen. We have allowed quality to leave and replaced it with dross."
13. I remember that, everyone said we should be buying quality instead of unproven talent...
