  1. “If he was standing in front of me I’d punch him on the nose.” - Freddy on John Barnwell from the LMA
  2. Is it against the stadium? The extension cost £42 million iirc so the other £45 million has come from overspending. Without a takeover we have no way of paying this back.
  3. Reading about Leeds and their debts, this part stood out... Ring any bells?
  4. you praying for the takeover or Leazes hanging himself? The takeover it would be too much fun leazes baiting when we win the league for him to hang himself. would I now ? I find it extremely puzzling how a long term supporter like you - or so you say - is STILL naive enough to think that any such takeover is going to put us automatically into the top 4 on a permanent basis, as there are only 4 clubs who have finished higher than us in the last decade and qualified more for europe. Because - if they don't, then they have not done so well ? Whatever their "plan". I can understand Dan the brain thinking this though Who has said a takeover will automatically put us into the top 4 on a permanent basis? eeeerrrrrrrrr........I presume you hope any new owners are going to do better than the last ones ? Or is that a difficult concept, especially seeing as you think they are shit etc etc So just to clarify, nobody has actually said that then. Can I ask you a question - It's been reported that the club have debts of £87 million, how do you think the current board will be able to pay that off?

Former Rangers striker Arveladze is banging them in for AZ this season, saying that I'd prefer us to face Az rather than Fenarbache if we get through.
  8. Well to start with Luque was never as good as some make out he was at Deportivo, he's also one of a small bunch of players who you know will never make it in the Premiership from the first few games you see them. Javier Mascherano is another. Interesting that BOTH Real Madrid and Barca went on record to say they wanted to sign Luque, but Depo refused to sell to a Spanish team. Don't let that get in your way of a good Luque slagging though. He's been shite since he arrived here though, which is all I'm arsed about. You're only hacked off because you tipped him for greatness tbh. I certainly did. I'm more hacked off that we've lost £9m because Souness wasn't allowed to pursue Boa Morte instead, but hey. me too, but Luque deserves the slagging off for his appalling attitude imo. Don't disagree with that. My post was in responce to being told that he was never any good. To be honest, I'd rather he wasn't, so that then we can blame whoever signed him, rather than himself. I didn't say he was never any good, I said he was never as good as some made out, people talked about him being the 3rd best player in Spain blah blah blah but in truth he wasn't anywhere near this standard, as far as strikers go in the Spanish league he wasn't even as good as Nihat. Interesting that BOTH AC Milan and Barcelona have gone on record to say they're interested in signing Lucas Neill, he must be class then.
  9. Anyone know anything about him?
  10. Don't pretend you weren't reading these kind of posts on N-O yourself. Well everyone is entitled to their opinion I suppose, although I would have thought most people wouldn't get too drawn in by a few knee jerk opinions, similar to people over there who still try and defend Luque. Not really the sort of opinions you take much notice of.
  11. Well perhaps the people who rate him as a quality footballer have seen more of him at previous clubs compared to people who have only got his performances in a Newcastle shirt to judge him on. I wonder what Scouser's make of fans who rave about how good Bellamy is supposed to be when more often than not he's dire for them, do they ignore the performances for previous clubs or do they go with the "he hasn't done fuck all in a Liverpool shirt so he can't be a quality footballer?" Similar with Chelsea fans and Sheva, Arsenal fans and Baptista, West Ham fans and Tevez etc. All quality footballers yet none have shown the form that earned them their reputation. Hic Rhodos, hic salta! tbh. I can understand that people say, that he will come good, based on his previous records. What I don't get is people pretending that he already ishowing this class. Who's saying that?

  14. That's likely to be down to not having any sort of understanding between him and the team that was fielded last night, but these things take time and the more they play together the better that understanding will be. People expected Martins to hit the ground running and be an instant success, which in reality was never going to happen. BTW has anyone seen the Youtube video of his goals at Inter Milan? It's not quite as good as Luque's but it's still got some pretty impressive efforts on it. Martins Youtube video
  15. Signing Crouch would give Roeder even more reason to continue with the long ball shite he's reduced us to lately, the lad is a good hold up player but he has zero movement, there isn't any pace there whatsoever. On top of that he's poor in the air for someone of his height, he can win flick on's (long ball) easy enough but he just can't get any sort of power behind them, as for him being a perfect partner for Owen I'm not sure what that's based on, they've only ever played together a half a dozen or so times and that's been against sub standard opposition (Austria, Jamaica etc) other than that his previous partners have been Ronaldo, Raul, Fowler, Heskey, Rooney and Shearer, none of them would I call similar to Crouch except maybe Shearer when his legs had gone. Dean Ashton would be a far better option than Crouch, as would Darren Bent. I'd personally sign Viduka and spend the rest of the money that we would waste on Crouch strengthening the fullback positions.
  16. NEWCASTLE are weighing up a sensational transfer-window bid for Liverpool's Peter Crouch. The Geordies are desperate to strengthen their firepower — and they see the England striker as the perfect man to lead the Toon attack. Crouch, 25, joined Liverpool from Southampton in a £7million deal in July 2005 and he has scored nine goals for the Reds this season. But boss Rafa Benitez wants to keep his strike-force intact to maintain their challenge in the Champions League this season — though there might be room for manoeuvre during the summer. Crouch might welcome the move since he is thought to be unsettled by having to share first-team opportunities at Anfield with Craig Bellamy, Dirk Kuyt and Robbie Fowler. Geordie boss Glenn Roeder will also make a £3m bid to sign Wes Brown from Manchester United next month. Roeder knows he needs to land at least two new defenders — with Craig Moore admitting he will quit the club at the end of the season and Titus Bramble out of contract in the summer. http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/story_page...rt/sport3.shtml
