At first i thought you meant beans on a cooked brekki was wrong, then I read it again! You can keep your mash Ant, I'll stick to baked parsnips MMMMMM

I dont do mash with a roast Ant, its just too much to eat! I always do three veggies though and either yorkshire puds or stuffing. Sometimes pigs in blankets too. My mum in law makes a spotted Dick with her roast, I thought that was weird when I first had it, but it does go a treat with a roast. I just always assumed that what you had with custard for a dessert, you only need a tiny amount though else you're way too stuffed to move Guess mash is our replacement for yorkshire puds then. Roasties, mash, veg, chosen meat. mash with gravy and such mmmmm Stop! you're making me hungry, I just got in from work. Time for hot weetabix with treacle drizzled over the top, ohhh Yum When I was a kid my Nan did mash with a roast, but why would you need it when you have roast potatoes? (come to think of it my Grandad was from County Cork, so maybe she did it because he liked it too)!!

Its a suet pudding with currants/sultanas in You can make it steamed or baked. Its normally served as a sweet with custard. Didnt you have it at school?

I see in the 'what have you bought thread' that you've been talking about Irish accents. To follow on from that I just wandered whereabouts does the actor James Nesbit come from? I'm not keen on his accent to be sure

Very adventurous. No!!! I do make all kinds of things but Ive only just started using those cartons...I always used to add my own ingredients. Well I still do but its all extra flavouring! I wouldn't dare challenge your culinary know-how. Your words just gave me a right chuckle at the time is all... I aim to please Truth is though, I am a more traditional cook. No one does a better roast dins than me Im going to try Jamie's cheat pizza this weekend. Tonight Im doing my own chicken fried rice.

Tiny town not to far from Belfast or where I live, but it really is a dump. Kinda place you go only if you've no other choice for some specific reason, and seeing as it's a stone throw from the city you're unlikely to have one. The national Hot rods have rounds at Ballymena raceway. Years back hubby built a race car for a really good Irish driver, he races at Bally. He's from Dungannon I think from memory. Whereabouts is that Ant? Is it near Belfast? it's about 50miles or so away not to far but not the nearest, could basically make a triangle'ish out of Dungannon > Belfast > Ballymena > Dungannon, with Lough Neagh in the middle of it, all about 40-50 miles from each other Ahh thanks, Ive seen photos of Lough Neagh, looks lovely.

To make a change, where you would use a tin or carton of chopped tomatoes in a recipe I've been using the ones with added ingredients. Tried the Sainsburys one with Chilli, Basil and Oregano, pretty good

we were going to race at Ballymena but a friend went before our planned trip. He came back with bullet holes in his race coach, luckily no one got hurt. Another mate raced there and had all their race gear pinched from their van. That all kinda put us off ever going.

I had Lemon Bakewell Tart recently, which was different and very scrummy

Yes I know for a fact that happens but often that's because the bed is desperately needed for someone in even more need. I understand that aye, but so often the old person got sent home too early, has a slip at home and just ends up back in hospital. yeah I know, the common practice now is to offer 'care in the community' package instead of paying for an elderly person to enter a residential care home. But I'm afraid it often ends in disaster.

I'm canny lucky cos I'm just not that into drinking. I've got mates who'll consume the best part of 40 pints every week. That's one day shy of your weekly calorie intake in just beer. Theres no recovering from that. One of them is in the gym every lunch. He sets the treadmill on 9.5mph and legs it for 40 minutes. And he's still basically fat. My god, his liver must be suffering! I drink very little thank god, just 1 small glass of Rose or Red 3 or 4 nights a week. I was wandering if Rose is as good for you as Red is supposed to be? (I doubt it somehow)

just we get all the "angels working in hospital" line -they're not -it's the same mix of people you get everywhere else - some good, some bad sometimes you really make me wonder, you do. Edit. Sorry to hear about your dad TR. Thanks LM. xx It was Aug 2008 when he died. ( Not that I want to make this thread about my experiences) Thing is, its the same in any role, you get the good and the bad. I have known some 'carers' in hospitals and nursing homes who are right cold, hard nasty people. Im afraid it happens. The ones I feel sorry for are the vulnerable who have no family or friends to keep an eye out for them. now that's a thought ...and thats an entirely different thread subject

I have nearly all of them on my other PC. They are brilliant.

That made me laugh! Well he is a lager drinker really, occasionally cider. Ive never known him to drink any beer but this cherry stuff is his latest craze! Its hard to get, Ive only seen it in the larger Sainsburys stores.
