  1. Maybe they are all just the same person. Noooo there is only one Gemmill I hope he comes back (and the other two of course) Bianca is one of my favourite posters and I would miss him if he disappeared
  2. Bloody hell thats bad! Gotta say that doesn't sound at all normal for someone post op (erm not in the sex change way lol). Surely they've fucked up somehow and thats what's causing your problems? Have you tried getting a 2nd opinion? Maybe tried going private? If you could find the cause of your problems, and it was caused by botched surgery then you would be owed mega bucks in compensation! Hiya. Yeah Ive had so many tests...I've gone private too. Its so demoralising when they cant find whats wrong with you. At times I nearly gave up going to see any docs in the end. The only irregular thing my bloods keep showing is a high ESR rate. Which in itself tells them nothing. Thats a real shame nothing's really been diagnosed! Have you tried alternative medicine and practice like acupuncture etc? No, I confess I havent. Its difficult because over those 6months I had so many different problems and symptoms in various parts of my body!! I mean, where would I start with alternative meds??! I have been pretty much back to normal since December really so I just thanked my lucky stars I was better, but now after what happened the other night I am on edge. I just don't trust my body any more, I wander whats in store next! What a lot of crips we all are on here
  3. ? What/who do you mean Stevie? Alex, Gemmill and Sammy haven't posted for four days. It's like they're on strike. Hope things are slowly getting back to normal for you TR, sorry about your loss x Aw thanks Stevie xx Yeah we gave Dad a proper send off. Though I think its always after the funeral that the loss really hits you. I havent been on here very much lately so I hadnt noticed any posters missing, I wonder if they are on strike?!
  4. Donald-How are your ghosts behaving now? Or did you move house?
  5. .....You start making noises when getting up out of a chair .....You listen to radio 2 instead of radio 1. .... Your joints start creaking and clicking .....You enjoy watching Countryfile .....You'd rather go for a walk and a quiet drink than into town clubbing it.
  6. ...that sounds awful. My mother had a similar issue with lightheadedness racing heart and fainting. turns out her heart would start to palpatate and speed up to the point where it was beating too fast to pump blood, so she'd faint her heart would slow down and she'd wake up. she was an emergency room nurse (now retired) so it could have been stress ,and it happened a couple of times at work. not sure if its the same thing but, thought i'd mention it. hope you feel better, she was off for a bit with some heart meds but now seems to be fine but she still doesn't drink caffienated coffe or tea any more just in case. I had several occasions when my heart beat too fast and wouldnt calm down. They were reluctant to start me on Beta Blockers, which was a road I really didnt want to go down. All my ECG's were fine. I had a 24 hour heart monitor but by then of course all was back to normal!!

  8. Hi Cath, yes I did. All went well, it was day surgery, I even watched some of it! Came home teatime, went to sleep at 11pm but when I got up to get some pain killers at 5am(ish) I passed out on my own in the kitchen, I'm not sure how long I was out for. I came round and got up quickly and ran into hubby, feeling sick. He sat me on the bed whilst he got me a sick bowl and when he came back I was having a full on seizure. The docs seem to think that even if I'd had a bad reaction to the anesthetic, it would have been out of my system within 48 hours. I was ill for nearly 6 months with various problems, it felt like my body was being attacked all over. Im off to work now, though not feeling great it has to be said

The same happened to me several years back
  10. Well most of you know I was very ill last year. Very briefly I had a small day surgery op for carpal tunnel syndrome but the following day I fainted then after had a full on seizure. After some tests it was just thought to have been caused by a sudden drop in my BP. After that though I was very ill, I had so many symptoms it was almost unbelievable and extremely scary! For 3 months I woke up feeling sick and urging. I had lightheadness, racing heart, weakness, a tremor in my legs, gastro problems including a vile taste in my mouth all the time and chronic pain inbetween my shoulders blades which was put down to irritation of the esophagus.... I lost weight, I looked and felt completely shit. I got pneumonia, then several weeks later I got pelvic inflammatory disease....though I still had all the same basic symptoms all the way through those 6 months. The cause was never really found despite several trips to hospital and various tests. I just thanked god I started to feel better and went back to work at Christmas. Apart from the upper back pain which has now moved around to the side (never found the cause of this) I've been much more myself and more or less back to normal. Until last night that is It was a long day yesterday I admit, my father in laws funeral. Last night we all went out to dinner, I enjoyed the meal (mushroom and sweet pepper risotto in case you wandered ) Anyhow, very suddenly afterwards I felt sick and faint, I knew I was going to pass out...everything went black, but I manged to lie down on the ground outside the restaurant and raise my legs (I expect people thought I was drunk)!! I felt really sick and was in a cold sweat, urgh it was awful. This time though I stayed there until I felt a bit better, I was so scared of having another seizure. It bought it all back to me, I was so upset. I felt really sick after too but it passed and I slept well. Today I feel a little shakey but ok. I'm just scared stiff I am going to be ill again I was just starting to trust my body again now I'm back to square one.
  11. Apart from Portsmouth who are just generic southern charva's, Southampton across to Bournemouth, Weymouth and Bognor Regis are all just farmer types by the coast. I mean look at the state of Mick Channon's accent. However, I've never lived there, so my grouping isn't set in stone, largely speaking I think I'm right about the rest though. Well if you're goingnto get down to it, there are subtle differences anywhere. Got a few mates from Portsmouth and lived with a lad from university from Southampton. Nowt to differentiate themselves from the restof the south. There's fucking millions of charvas in Kent for example. Bristol and south west are different people though, genetically and culturally. I base the genetic differentiation on that Oppenheimer book I must have mentioned on here about 10 times now. You should have a read of it. Google his name plus origin of the British. We do not consider Bristol as South West.
  12. Monk fish was chucked back in the sea as useless until Fanny Craddock used it to make fake scampi. One of the most expensive fish to buy now. Try it diced breadcrumbed and deep fried ala Craddock style. Or wrap in parma ham (streaky bacon will do actually) and fry on outside to brown then oven for 10 mins - crispy outside and soft fish inside. Make sure you get rid of the sinew on the monkfish or it just curls up as it cooks. SOLE/PLAICE is as nice as a simple grill with a knob of butter squeeze of lemon juice. That's what I did in the end. I like the sound of the monk fish wrapped in bacon, I will try that next time.
  13. Toonraider, sincere sympathy for your loss. x Aw Thank you sweetie xx Took Mum to the viewing yesterday as she hadn't seen him. I'm very used to being with people as they die or soon after. But this was very weird to me....it was almost creepy. (Im sorry to say that scenes from Six Feet Under kept springing to my mind ) I had a very strong feeling he was going to move, I couldnt take my eyes off him, it was very unnerving to say the least. He didn't look like Dad to me. It got me thinking about how we deal with death, its all hush hush and do this because its 'the proper way' and don't say that and so on. I think I'd prefer it if everyone just freaked out! It is strange how we deal with it. Like you, I'm used to being with dead people too and have help to lay out many, many patients that I've nursed over the years and it hasn't bothered me. For some reason I'm really creeped out by it at the moment and had to go through to our A&E a couple of weeks ago to check an anaesthetic machine. It was in the resus bay and all the screens were pulled around etc. I asked one of the nurses if it was ok to go in and she said "Oh yeah, it's fine, there's just a deceased gentleman in there.." For the first time in years I was properly freaked out and got goosebumps when I went in - I was absolutely convinced he was going to move. I checked the machine as fast as I could and felt a huge relief when I got out of the room, it was very strange. Weird isnt it Cath? I know exactly how you felt. Perhaps its because there is a difference between being with someone as they die and doing what you have to do as opposed to entering a room where a dead body lies?? I don't know, but seeing Dad has definitely unsettled me. Its the absolute stillness that got me and yet I could have sworn he moved or was about to move at any time Maybe its just the fact he's family and not a client I touched his hand and his face, he was so ice cold it momentarily shocked me....but then I thought how silly, of course he's cold he's been in a cold room. Perhaps as we get older it affects us differently Cath, I couldnt help but think that will be me one day lying like that. I have to say I've been pretty upset about it all over the last few days.
  14. Thanks Bianca xx I was very fond of my father in law Not looking forward to the funeral, its all abit too soon for me after my Dad's death. Anyhow, I've had a very productive day. Ive cleaned, swept, tidied, polished and hoovered the whole place! All the washing done aswell Looking forwards to going out with hubby's family tonight, I intend to get drunk...(wont take much on the Amitriptyline)
  15. Wasnt sure where to post this but thought you lot would appreciate it! Marika Fruscio shows her breasts on Italian TV!
  16. Parky-Thanks that sounds very tasty. I did make a fish pie last time which was lovely but everyone said it was a waste of expensive fish which should be eaten simply!
  17. Hubby bought home a large bag of fresh fish last night so I will have to cook that today A customer is a Brixham fisherman and gives hubby a bag of fish caught that morning. I think its got sole, monk fish and the fish with the orange spotty skin (is that Plaice)? I'm not very up on fish I admit, I normally stick to salmon and smoked haddock. It is gutted and headless but I'm not keen on even trimming and washing it, turns my stomach slightly However once prepared I'm fine, I shall simply fry it gently and serve with new potatoes and minted peas.

  21. Its when you see little spots/specks, especially when looking at light colours. Its little pieces of debris which are floating through the vitreous fluid in the eyeball. They seem like pieces of dust or dirt but you cant wipe it away as its within the eye. They are normally harmless but can be a sign of a torn or detached retina. MY best mate kept getting floaters then they became much worse, she was seeing them all the time, luckily she went to the opticians who sent her to hospital right away. She had laser treatment that day to repair the tears. Very scary! She needed the other eye done at a later date too. Which I do have, but is exactly NOT what I keeping telling them about but they dont fucking listen, so I gave up and lived with it. I have snow/static in my vision. A bit like when you turn your tv to channel 99 or whatever and there is fuck all here apart from b&w static. I've googled it and plenty others have the same thing but no one has found what it is. It's not getting worse so I just put up with it. That sounds awful for you. What does your optician say it is then? It doesnt sound like harmless floaters to me! Look I'm not scaremongering, but my friend had floaters for awhile, but once you start to see them all the time-even whilst you're looking at dark colours or they become flashing you really need to get it looked at properly. Optician gave me the all clear, nowt wrong. Dr the same. It's very faint but still very noticable, whereas floaters is only if I look at the sky for example. Personally I put it down to a LSD filled youth As they say your eyes are fine, maybe its a neurological problem??
