  1. Well I've been in a miserable mood lately, its all doom and gloom at the moment. After my father in laws funeral it started to hit us what a rough time he had and we all had. Hubby is feeling down and we are so busy with his business and my job. Then my friend who Ive mentioned before, passed away last Friday. She finally lost her battle with cancer. She was only 51. Her funeral is on Wednesday. We are all wearing something pink for Breast Cancer care and because it was her favourite colour. After the funeral we are each letting off a pink balloon by the sea. How unfair life is!
  2. Yes I think Torquay seafront (in the summer) would suit CT fine Mind, I dont let the 'attractions' blind me to how lucky I am to live here. I walk there at quieter times, around the new marina (where I once fell off our mates yacht at night, into the deep dark harbour ) Then I walk along the pier and right around the headland its amazingly beautiful I especially love walking it on a wild stormy night when they sea spray hits you in the face. Opposite the seafront on the green, we have Torre Abbey and the Spanish Barn which has recently been restored. All in all I'm lucky and I don't forget it, especially when we drive through Birmingham for racing, Urgh! Dreary and depressing, I'd hate to live there. I walk out of the gates here and walk down a lane through the bluebell woods and right onto Meadfoot beach, bliss!!
  3. Reminds me of someone?????? It will come. Rimmer, Gordon Brittas, etc From the nose down he's got a jasper carrot thing going on and there's definitely bits of John Major in there but theres someone else that is virtually identical...think think think! One of the Doctors at my surgery
  4. Yes stunning.... if you can put up with them strange cornish folk North Devon is beautiful too but in South Devon here we have Meadfoot Beach with Thatcher Rock, which is totally unspoilt except I live near by Then of course there's Slapton Sands, Broadsands, Beesands oh I could go on and on! Its not all like Torquay seafront which is much more commercial. Shops, gardens, pubs, ice cream stalls, even a massive balloon you can go up on!! Its fine if you want that type of thing. Personally I avoid it in Grockle time as I hate it!
  5. If you put your company to limited it means that when/if people buy shares they can only lose what they invest. Smart option as it means you wont lose what you don't have. Thanks Kevin, it sounds the best thing to do. I'm still not completely understanding it though Sorry my old brain does not pick things up too quickly!!!
  6. The big benefit of it is that should things go tits up then your creditors can only take the assets of the business rather than coming after your personal property. and your accountant can write off more tax and charge you more money for the privilege. Thanks, yes I suppose it makes sense to do it for that first reason but like you say I knew there must be something in it for the accountant even though she is our mate as she has to be on some kind of commission with her firm! She says we will pay less tax though.
  7. The commentary however was not about the beach, twas about the seafront. The whole package. There is nothing up and down the coast to compare with Shields seafront package of fairs, parks, piers, beaches, restaurants, pubs, greenery. And this myth that the air somehow is cleaner 30 miles up the same stretch of coast. As you can see in my signature there's not a beach of more natural beauty in England than Bamburgh, and it's nicer round the corner than what you can see there. Personally I like being in places of natural beauty rather, than grotty seaside towns like Blackpool, South Shields and Scarborough, over ran with charva's and the like. Bamburgh has restaurants, and it has a few lush pubs as well. It's like comparing SuBo to Elle MacPherson at her peak on so many levels. That's a very sweeping statement Stevie! Its beautiful yes, but there are several here in Devon just as beautiful and unspoilt that perhaps you haven't seen!!
  8. I was just pleased not have to endure Vettel doing his number One finger salute Enjoyed the race immensely but I can't stop having a faint feeling of it being too contrived if you know what I mean?! And although I enjoyed it the BTCC was waaaaaay much more fun!!!
  9. Give over Fist. Bamburgh has fuck all to do. Shields has everything B has and a whole lot more. If stuffing yourself on chips, pop and lard is a good day at the beach, you're probably right. If you like clean air, miles of unspoilt sand, in fact nah… .… if you're on the wind up, fail. If not, pointless arguing. ......then come to Devon and visit Slapton Sands
  10. I am rapidly getting a headache because our accountant (and friend) has advised our business to become a limited company. I am online reading up about it, but I have to be honest and say I don't really understand it all
  11. Torquay are doing well. Up to 5th in league Two. In those play off places, but its all very close
  12. Mama Mia, that sounds just scrummy. I have a leg of lamb for tomorrow. mmmmm
  13. Rob as you know I'm never rude to anyone on here but your comments are getting really boring now! So watch the BTCC instead if you dont like F1.

  15. Aww poor you, thats very scary. I hate having to take any meds really. I suppose that means you cant tolerate any NSAID's now? Glad you are on the mend now anyway.
  16. Of course I am CT, I am female
  17. Are you sure? http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?showuser=286 Showing up on the birthday list today, but says last seen in 2006, 5 years ago! He had posted though.
  18. Its stupid I know but I had to check......(the Yellow Army are what Torquay fans are called)!
  19. I will be working the night shift going into the Royal wedding Day, regardless of my religious or royal beliefs. Im afraid my work place cant close down for the day/night!! And the bastard company I work for arent paying us any extra anyway, so its all irrelevant!
  20. Just realised we will be off to Brands Hatch that afternoon. Blimin heck I hope everyone is stuffing their faces at a street party leaving the motorway clear!
  21. NOOOO. You and your partner really must visit Devon Bianca. (decent football here too) Wooo Hooo the Mighty Gulls are flying right now!! Cockington Court
  22. We were the first area to have the switchover a couple years ago now. It was a nightmare! Loads of problems and some areas still havent got all their channels yet. I get E4 but my mother in law who lives 8 miles away doesnt! There are several channels she cant pick up. We even bought a better quality digi box but no go. Perhaps you could try a booster aerial? But you might just have to wait untill those channels become available in your area. EDIT: My sister who lives 2 miles from me is an area where she cannot pick up any channels with a digibox, so she has to have a sky box and views them free via that.
  23. CT, yes hubby would have a look at classic cars and bikes of course. We have a 3 day steam rally here in Torbay every year and he goes to that, but not my thing at all. I would be bored stiff. I know what you're saying though, I'm sure lots of familes would enjoy it. We used to go to lots of car shows too, like the massive NEC Autosport show which is more our type of thing...we even showed our race cars there before. But even that has got very commercial. I do enjoy a look round a proper farm shop mind. We have a picturesque place here in Torquay called Cockington. They have a summer fayre which I avoid (tacky and too busy) but on quiet days of the week I enjoy lunch at Cockington Court and then wander around to watch the glass blowers and Blacksmiths at work, I love the art and jewellery sellers, all local artists. Then we sit on the green with an ice-cream and watch the cricket in peace (Not that I actually like cricket, but Im just setting the scene for you)! No disrespect to families with little ones, but we've done that and now prefer peaceful places!! (Apart from our racing of course)!
