We went out last night and it went really well. She admitted she had been silly coming back so late and assured me she was with a group of people and not just him. She seemed really sorry once she realised how upset I was by this latest incident. I really don't know how to let this go. She's either lying to you - in which case you're fucked (or not) and there's no point worrying about it. Or she's not - and so there's nothing to worry about. In short: For the greater good and the relationship in general I realise I have to let it go. But I feel broken and after a few beers I don't really think I have a handle on it. Been thinking of not going at all.

I think the board is preparing for the Championship.

You and your lass? Yeah and the Croatian. Mrs P has been as good as gold since our 5 hour argument Sun morning and she's apologised. But my mind isn't right. Don't know how not to start something. It's going to be embarrassing.

We will both be at the same party on Friday.

"The Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 says the person using force must honestly believe that it was justified, and not excessive. Force is deemed acceptable in self-defence, defence of another person or property, prevention of crime or lawful arrest. According to the Crown Prosecution Service, you can only use "such force as is reasonable in the circumstances". The Citizens Advice Bureau defines it as: "The police can use reasonable force when they stop and search, but must make every effort to persuade you to co-operate. They should only use force as a last resort." One anonymous police officer said that, in training, police are told to use their voices to try and calm a situation before using force. But an officer does not need to wait until he is being physically attacked before he acts. If the officer believes they are in serious danger, they are allowed to use whatever force they feel is necessary. What is clear from the footage of Mr Tomlinson is that when he was shoved by a masked officer in a riot shield, he had his back facing the police and his hands in his pockets."

He has actually, was on the news this morning.

Funny how the copper hasn't come forward yet and his colleagues seem clueless as to his identity.

It would be interesting to see if any "civilian" assaults which produced stress-related heart attacks led to more serious charges. This is basically the taser dilemma; you're not allowed to have one because it's a "potentially lethal" weapon (which it is) which can kill in several ways including a manner very similar to this incident (as well as being deemed as assault and torture). But it's ok for the police to use them in very minor and unnecessary circumstances, because then it is "non-lethal" (even if it kills someone). Just the sound of the things is enough to make one jump out of yer skin!

From the Telegraph: But the scope of the "shocking" incident widened as another witness said that the newspaper seller had been manhandled about 15 minutes before the incident seen in the video footage. Anna Branthwaite, a photographer, said that Mr Tomlinson was shoved to the ground and struck twice with a baton before being picked up by the officer, who continued to push him along the street. A third witness is believed to have claimed the 47-year-old had a confrontation with police in the hour before his death. The Daily Telegraph understands that four Metropolitan police officers suspected to be involved in the incident came forward yesterday - including the Territorial Support Group officer in riot gear seen pushing Mr Tomlinson in the video footage. The IPCC will now decide whether to suspend him from duty pending their investigation, and will question him "as soon as possible".

That is basically an unprovoked criminal assault. End of.

Looks like I was right. "Knapton said there was a plausible biological explanation for stress being a trigger. Stress is associated with a surge of the "fight or flight" hormone adrenaline, which causes blood to be diverted around the body and puts an extra strain on the heart."

It's all going off today. Thread after thread takedowns occurring at random.

Sometimes I hear the odd 'rap' track that I like and I do a double take......Then realise it is actually the looped sample I like and nothing to do with the artist or the track itself. I posses no rap albums of any kind apart from a couple that have been given to me. I am sure there are good things about this genre as a whole and is posses merits, but I just can't really get into it. Gangsta Rap was a bastardised record company invention anyway and a million miles away from the 'toasting' scene that did actually come from the streets in the early 80's (you all know the names).

They treat different situations differently, granted, and quite correct imo (and not in Fop's opinion, I appreciate), but as you say that is a different matter really. To equate this to 'institutional racism' is absurd though. The least Fop could do would be admit he's used a bad choice of words, but even that to him is to admit too much. Hence the wind up on my behalf. I don't understand why Fop can't see that. Policing policy is reviewed monthly and to some extent influenced by Whitehall/Govt sub-committees and the like. Secondly, if Fop (or Alex) are irritated that at long last non-white people are getting some kind of more sensitive police handling then that's just tough shit. Let's face it they have had a pretty bad ride and faced Police brutality and general ill treatment/prejudice for the last 30 years or so. You must still be pissed off at the Tarquin jibe because there's no way my comments could be interpreted that way tbh If that is the case I apologise.

I don't think all situations and demonstrations should be treated in the same way, that's naive at best. I don't see how that equates to the term 'institutional racism' though, but then again I don't think you have a clue what that even means. Fop needs to check the IR meated out to Asians and Blacks in the 70's and 80's and then start his patented backtracking.

Pretty much a direct link, just as much as happening to land wrongly bang your head and set off a terminal bleed. There's also the issue of equality of policing again (would they have done this to say a Tamil protester doing the same thing?). That's conjecture but unlikely to bear up to scrutiny imo. Agree about the 2nd bit though. A lot of the protestors were represenative of muslim groups etc, I doubt these were singled out for better treatement a la Fop's theory that the police are 'insitutionally racist' against white christian people. This is Fop's new uber agenda the daft twit. What they did to that fella was wrong. But that they wouldn't have done it to that fella if he'd been someone else, is even worse. I was gonna help you out in this thread today, but now you're making me choose sides between the generic stupidity at loose here and your unique stupidity.
